'Pregnant.'

'...Pregnant.'

I turned to look sideways in the mirror imagining my future self with a round belly carrying a precious life. A life made by myself and the most handsome mage on this earth. At least in my eyes he was.

'Huh.' A smile came across my face as I placed my hands on the side of my hips now fully facing the mirror, "pregnant."

I skipped excitedly to our bed falling backwards on it with thoughts of different colors painting our baby's room until one questionable thought crossed my mind, 'how do I tell Elias?'

I made my way to the kitchen where I knew I'd find Silky. I wanted to see if I could ask for a special dinner tonight. Elias favorite dinner to be exact. I had made up my mind to tell Elias about us having a baby tonight at dinner because sooner the better right? But, first I needed to get everything ready.

"Silky I was wondering if you could make Elias's favorite dish tonight. I have something important I'd like to tell everyone and I think that would lighten the mood." I saw her nod with a questioning look in her eyes but, I ignored it for now as not to give any hints. This was a surprise after all, "also I'll be out for an hour or so to run some errands. I'll be back soon." I waved her goodbye and made my way to the door.

"Can we come with you?" I heard a voice ask and looked behind to find Chise and Ruth.

I thought of Chise as a daughter. I am of course older than most, well in my late 90's. Around the age of my closest and oldest friend, Angelica. But, being a mage does have its perks for it was if I hadn't aged a day over 25. Time worked differently for us, more slowly to be exact. Where as humans without magic came to wither around the age of 100 we still thrived well into the unknown future.

But, back to how we came to know Chise. Elias hadn't wanted to at first. When we went to that auction I fully expected to just buy special herbs that we needed at home but, when I saw her in those chains... I knew we had to save her. To bring her home.

"Not today sweetie but, I do have a surprise to share at dinner so you both better be here when I get back." I gave them a knowing look, figuring they would go off adventuring while I'm gone.

"Promise." Ruth nodded and with that I was off on my mission.

"Be safe." I heard Chise call out just as I shut the door and I smiled at that before I was off on my special mission. A spring in my step I headed towards town with full intent on being there for only a short while because baby shopping didn't seem so hard. It should be a breeze! I can totally do this!

Wow... Baby shopping was a lot harder than it looks...

I originally came to buy a little gift for Elias to show we were having a baby but, my head began to spin as I looked at all the possible things I could get.

'Who knew there were so many little things your suppose to have for your child...' I thought glancing at all the baby formulas and strollers, 'Thankfully I won't have to worry about this other stuff until later. It'll definitely be a weight off my shoulder to have Elias pick all that out with me. For now I should focus on getting a small gift.'

"Need help mam?" An employee asked me.

And with a grateful look towards the woman I sighed in relief, "Yes please."

I let the woman lead me all around the store explaining what most things were as we looked around for a gift. I eventually ended up with a cute bear stuffed animal and a baby blanket with green leaf embroidering on it.
