This is the Princess’s Perspective

I pace back and forth in my room as I wait for the arrival of the prince. It’s been a few hours, and I am sure that the ball is still going on. The parties normally last until 3 am, whether I am there or not. I look at the clock. It’s 11:59. I let my mind wonder a bit. I turned off the lights in my room to give off the impression of me being asleep. I asked Jane to deliver a note to the prince telling him how to get to my room secretly. This tower is built from a series of secret tunnels. He could easily get to my room without being spotted. I glance at the clock. It’s 12:00. I begin to wonder if something went wrong, when I suddenly see a figure appear in my room. The prince steps into the light of the small candle that gently lights my bedroom. I smile, and look at the man before me. He looks handsome. I walk towards him, as I see a small smile form on his face. “Hi, again.”
“Hi, again.”
“Would you like to sit down?”
“Sure.” He takes a seat and looks up at me. I walk to my bed, which is directly across from him and sit.
“Thank you for coming.”
“Thank you for inviting for me.”
I fumble with the skirts of my night dress and tuck a piece of hair behind my ear. I can feel his eyes on me. “How are you enjoying the castle so far?”
“Well it kinda sucks.” I chuckle, then cover my mouth. “What’s funny?”
“Nothing, I’ve just never known any royal to use words like ‘sucks’.”
“I don’t believe I’m like any royal you will ever meet.” I play with my hair as I ponder on his words.
“But do you really think the castle is that bad.”
“Everything except you.” I giggle.
“Even the food?”
“Well never the food.” I hear him chuckle as I smile to myself. I twirl a strand of hair in my fingers and smile. “You should probably stop doing that.” I look up.
“Doing what?”
“Playing with your hair.” He stands. “And smiling like that.” He begins to walk towards me. “And stop being so gorgeous.” He comes closer to me and places his hand on the small of my back. I look up at him as he stares into my eyes. His eyes. It feels like they are piercing into my soul. I look down and try to conceal my blushing. He lifts my head and averts my gaze back to him. “I told you not to hide from me.” He leans in and kisses me gently. I smile into the kisses and wrap my arms around him. When we finally part, he begins to apologize. “I have to go princess.” He begins to head towards the tunnel, when my mouth suddenly begins to move.
“Can’t you stay for the night?” He looks back and smiles.
“We could get in trouble.”
“And here I thought you didn’t care about the rules.”
“I care about rules. It’s just certain rules don’t apply to me.”
“Please.” He considers my offer.
“Alright, but I must leave before the sun rises.” I nod and slide over so he has room. He climbs in next to me and gently holds me. I lye against his chest, and soon fall asleep to the rhythm of his heart beat.
