"Hi sweetie!!! Oh, I'm so glad you're okay!! Have you been eating well, you look a little thin~" Ryoba gushed as she rushed and embraced her daughter in a tight hug, Ayano quietly hissed through her teeth, she had forgotten how strong her mom was.
"M-mom... too tight," Ayano said through clenched teeth, rubbing her aching muscles as soon as her mother let go.
"Oh sweetie I'm so sorry! I forgot you were hurt~," Ryoba frantically apologized, cupping her daughter's face in her hands, I'm just so happy to see my sweet little Aya-chan is alright~"
Ayano's face turned red at the mention of the old nickname."M-mom, why are you here? I thought you and Dad weren't going to be back for another three months?" She asked, utterly confused. Her father chuckled as he walked to her side, ruffling her hair.
"We were, but last week your boyfriend called and told us about this little scheme, and the weather just so happened to have cleared up enough that we could get the first flight back the next day," he said, mischief twinkled in his eyes. Ayano's father seemed much livelier now than he ever did in her childhood. Ayano approached her father, her eyes shining a warm glow. He reached out to her and embraced her tightly, but still considerate of her wounds. "It's good to see you, kiddo," he said softly.
"It's good to see you too, Dad," Ayano buried her face into his shoulder, trying to fight off tears that wanted to spill over. How long has it been since her father embraced her with so much warmth, so much love? She couldn't remember the last time he gave off so much comfort. Her breath hitched as these thoughts swarmed her mind. Her father, sensing her conflict, rubbed her back in a soothing motion; this simple action caused the dams to break. Tears silently streamed from her eyes as her shoulders shook from the overwhelming emotions she was feeling, sorrow, relief, love.
Ayano eventually calmed down, and looked up at her father, a childish grin on her face.
"You two must be tired from such a rushed trip, have you eaten anything? I can get something for you?" she asked her dad, ready to go to the kitchen to prepare anything, despite the dull ache of her back protesting at the thought.
"No no no~ Not so fast little missy, you are still healing, remember? Leave the kitchen work to the grown-ups~!" Ryoba interrupted, guiding her daughter by her shoulders to sit down on the couch. "The only thing you are going to do, is sit right here until supper is ready,~" with that said, Ryoba went into the kitchen to join Mrs. Yamaha, who was already setting out the ingredients for ramen. Ayano's father went outside to the back porch (Idk if there is a back porch or deck or something but this is my story so there is now) to speak with Mr. Yamada. Yuki was the first to join Ayano on the couch, while Taro sat on the other side of her.
"Did you like your surprise Aya?" Yuki asked with wide sparkling eyes, almost as if she enjoyed the surprise more than the girl in question. Ayano grinned and ruffled the young girl's hair, a laugh escaping the child's lips as she ran to the dining room table to color. This left Taro and Ayano still sitting. Ayano looked over at Taro, a loving smile on her face. Noticing her stare, Taro cracked a small smile of his own as a small blush began to color his cheeks.
"What?"
"You called my parents, and planned all of this for me?" Ayano asked leaning her head on his shoulder, "I bet you do this for all the girls who take a knife to the back for you." Taro bit back a laugh at the terrible joke, giving Ayano a kiss on the cheek in retaliation. This caused her cheeks to become ten times as red as his were.
"Nope. Only the special ones," he teased back, resting his head on top of hers. Ayano scooted close to her boyfriend, taking in the scent of his cologne, before dozing off into a needed sleep.
It was good to be home.
————————————Author's note.——-—
Hi guys! Sorry for the post taking so long, I know I haven't posted in this story since December(? I think?) but I just wanted to let people know this story is not dead, although I know I feel like I need to bring it to it's ending eventually.BUT I posted something new for everyone.
I posted a small part for a story called "Steel Bound Alchemist." I have had this idea in my head for about a year or two, but was unsure how well it would go, so I have posted part of the prologue just to see how people like it. I would love it if you all would take the time to read it, only if you want to though, and then let me know what you think of it in its comment section.Thank you so much for sticking around with me for so long!
Bye for now!
