The rain continued for what felt like hours, but no one spoke a word. We all were infatuated at the sound of water and with the sky that continued to change colour, from grey to black, then to hints of blue. It seemed like nothing else in the world mattered at that moment, it was just us. No one was around, only the sweet smell of sea air and the warm car was there to comfort us. All you could hear was the sound of small breaths, that seemed to fade away into the silence. What a truly outstanding moment.
I glanced over at Daniel, now realising what I had thought all along. I was in love with him and nothing would be able to stop me from loving him. Not the rain, not the boys, not the distance. I watched him looking up through the windscreen, like he was waiting for each splash of rain to hit the car.
I rested my head against the window when I heard Beau say, ''I guess we better make a move.''
Everyone took a breath in that was so deep, it was like we had all been woken up from a late afternoon nap. Daniel started the engine and we were off. Driving away from the beach, I held Daniels hand that was ontop of the gearbox. His fingers intwined in mine, he looked at me. At that moment, I knew he was feeling the same way I did. We both smiled and we knew that this love was real. It was either going to hurt like hell, or be the best thing we could ever experience. We just had to wait and see.
