Chapter 3
Scott and Kirstie walked into the apartment and Kirstie locked the door. Scott turned to her and inspected her face seeing the redness of her cheek where she had been slapped. "Are you sure you're ok?" He asked again placing his hand on her cheek. She touched his hand gently and nodded. "It's you I'm worried about. You look terrible again." She winced as she looked at his face. His lip and nose were bleeding and it was all because of her. He pulled her into an embrace. "I'm fine, It's not your fault. All I care about is making sure you're ok." He kissed her forehead gently and let go of her. She stared at him in awe. "Why do you care so much? No one has ever cared about me..."Her face dropped as she spoke. He frowned. He couldn't seem to convince her she was worth more. Finally he raised her chin and placed his lips to hers. "I really like you. You're so funny and perfect and beautiful. You were so selfless and helped a complete stranger, me...and that shows how amazing of a person you are. You understand what I've been through and I've never felt this comfortable with anyone before." He looked into her beautiful brown eyes as he spoke. She stared at him in utter disbeleif. She couldn't beleive he really meant what he said, but his eyes were so sincere. 'You...you like me?" She stammered and he nodded taking her small hand in his. She smiled and got on the tips of her toes to kiss him back. She definately felt something for him that she'd never felt before. "I will never let anyone hurt you again..." He said resting his forehead against hers.
"Same here..." She muttered looking into his eyes. They walked hand in han to the bedroom and layed down holding eachother. 'Scott?" Kirstie asked suddenly raising her head from his chest. "Yes?" He answered silently. She looked down not knowing how to continue, She wanted to tell him about her scars...about her need to cut but she was afraid. "I...um..."She stuttered and then sat up. He sat up as well looking rather confused. "What is it? You can tell me." He said sweetly. She said nothing but got up and walked out to the kitchen. She got a bottle of wine down and a glass. Scott followed her and also grabbed a glass. She handed him the bottle and he poured some in his glass. "What was it you wanted to tell me?" He asked trying to get an answer. She simply shook her head. She couldn't tell him. She wanted to so badly but she just couldn't say the words. She walked back to her bedroom taking the bottle with her, and sat on her bed with her back against the wall. Scott stood in the kitchen a moment in silence. Why couldn't she open up to him? He liked this girl so much and it seemed that she felt the same way, but she couldn't let her wall down. He understood why with what she's been through but he just wanted her to know how important she was to him. He walked in the room and sat next to her. The two finished the bottle before too long and Kirstie looked at him and pouted noticing the empty bottle. "Will you get the other bottle please?" She asked. Her words weren't slurring too much yet but her eyes told him she was drunk. He got up and got the other bottle. He opened it and poured himself a glass before giving it to her.
Before long the second bottle was also empty and laying on the floor next to the other one. "Doo youu wanna talk noooow?" Scott slured. He really wanted her to losen up and talk to him. She looked at him blankly. "I....caaant teell youu." She turned her face away from him. He gently grabbed her chin and pulled her face to his kissing her soft lips. She kissed back and before either of them realized she had pulled off his shirt. She was on top of him now placing soft kisses on his neck which drove him crazy. He reached his finger to her shirt and pulled it off. She didn't protest and kept kissing him. He layed his hands on her back and then froze. She stopped kissing him and looked at him confused. "Wha....?" She started then stopped when she felt his hands move accrossed the deep scars on her back. She looked completely horrified and jumped up backing into the wall. Scott sat up and stared at her midsection to the other scars around her sides. Kirstie knew she couldn't hide them any longer and she put her face in her hands. For the first time in a long time she started to sob. He got up and knealt next to her. "It's alright...you..you don't have to tell me..." He said silently. She was shaking violently and sobbing. When she didn't get up he gently lifted her and carried her to the bed laying her down. Her sobs had quieted a little but she was still shaking. He handed her shirt to her and she quickly put it on and pulled her knees to her chest. She stared at him with such sadness in her eyes and it broke Scott's heart. He layed down next to her and pulled her to his chest. She accepted and burried her face in his chest beginning to sob again. He held her close until her breathing slowed and she was sleeping soundly.
