Mine (Bucky Barnes)

Chapter 6

"No, no, and no," Talia said.

She didn't even wait for her brother to say anything. Bucky bit the inside of his cheek trying not to laugh but Talia could see the corners of his mouth twitching.

"You can't ignore me. I'm still your brother," Tony said.

"Oh yeah. Watch me."

Talia moved Tony's hand off her shoulder and walked away. She walked to the dock near the park and sat down taking off her shoes and socks sticking her feet in the water. Keeping alert on her surroundings Talia carefully pulled the dagger out of her waistband and turned around. It was only Bucky. He sat down next to her and pulled her close.

"Wanna talk about it," Bucky asked.

"Can I ask where he gets the right to say he's still my brother," Talia asked.

"Tals he's your brother. You may not like him but he's your brother."

"Buck he didn't even try to find me. Even as we grew up he never liked me. Hell at the press conference he cared more about revealing he's Iron Man than me. His phone was on ringer when I was taken. I tried calling him so why didn't he answer? He didn't answer cause he doesn't like me. He's never liked me. Before our parents died he pleaded with them to send me to an orphanage."

"That's uh wow. OK so maybe he didn't like you growing up but maybe now he wants to be there for you."

"Before we escaped HYDRA I went to see him. He knew who I was. He even knew my name but all he did was shoot me with his repulsor. That's the circle scar that's on my rib cage. I gotta face it Bucky. He doesn't care about me. Never have never will. Hell in a few years I could be dying and he still wouldn't care."

"I care. You have Fury, Maria, Strange, Pietro, and Dani who care. They care about you. You will never be alone. Never."

"Can we go back and eat now? My fast metabolism kinda makes it hard to not be hungry."

"Let's go before Pietro starts yelling for us. And Talia?"

"Yes, Buck?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."

Talia put back on her socks and shoes before grabbing Bucky's hand and walking to the table. Bucky pulled out the bread and turkey as Talia pulled out the water bottles and cans of lemonade.

"Fury can you go get Strange and Daniella," Bucky asked.

"On it," Fury said as he walked away.

Daniella came running up to Talia with Strange and Fury behind. It was clear that something was bothering Strange but he didn't want to say anything in fear of ruining the fun they were having.

"Talk magic man. What's bothering you," Talia asked feeding Daniella some applesauce.

"After you walked away and Bucky went after you Tony walked up to Dani and me," Strange said.

"That's fine. He can go near her but the moment he tries to touch her or talk to her all hell breaks loose."

"That's the thing. He told her that you were a bad mother. That you and Bucky had killed people. Daniella didn't believe him but that didn't stop her from crying."

"He's a dead man."

Talia was about to stand up when Bucky stopped her.

"Don't do it, Talia. It doesn't matter what Tony says because we both know the truth. All of us know the truth. Tony can say what he wants but the next time he says anything to Dani I'm going to lock him in a cell."

"OK how about we eat then we discuss what to do about Tony," Fury asked.

Everyone agreed with that but it didn't stop the thought of putting Tony in a cell passing through their minds. When they were done eating Daniella had fallen asleep in Bucky's arms looking so adorable.

"Damn I just realized Dani looks more like Bucky than Talia. Guys, we got a mini Barnes here," Strange said.

"We should pack up the food and everything else. Bucky do you want to hold Dani while we clean up," Talia asked.

"I got her. It probably won't take long."

Everyone, besides Bucky and Pietro, started to clean up the mess. By the time they were done, it was nearing one in the afternoon. Everyone was standing by Talia and Bucky's car when Steve walked up to them.

"I need to apologize about what Tony said to Dani---" Steve was cut off by Bucky.

"Just walk away Rogers. I don't want a half-assed apology."

Steve walked away and Bucky sighed wrapping his arms around Talia. Earlier they found out she would take her first mission tomorrow. With Natasha Romanoff. Pietro got in the back seat with Daniella as Bucky got in the passenger seat and Talia was in the driver's seat. When they got home Bucky took in the basket, Talia got Daniella, who was now awake, and Pietro grabbed Daniella's diaper bag.

"Order pizza," Pietro asked.

"About 5. Two for Bucky, two for me, and you and Dani can share one," Talia said.

After Pietro ordered the pizza they all went to change into home clothes then came back downstairs and sat on the couch. Pietro had his head in Talia's lap, Talia was leaning into Bucky's left side running her fingers through Pietro's hair, Bucky had his metal arm wrapped around Talia's shoulders, and Daniella was on Bucky's lap drawing little lines and scribbles. When the pizza got there Talia paid for it and brought it to the coffee table as Pietro bought over the drinks.

"Mama are you gonna be safe tomorrow," Pietro asked.

"I don't know Pietro. How about I make you a deal," Talia said.

"What kind of deal?"

"If I come home with more than one injury I have to take everyone to Coney Island for the entire day."

"Deal."

Pietro and Talia shook hands to seal the deal. After they finished eating they went to bed. The next morning Talia was in her battle outfit cooking breakfast. Pietro was the first to come down the stairs then Bucky with Daniella in his harms. Talia places plates of bacon and eggs on the table, kissed Pietro and Daniella on the head, Bucky on the cheek, and sat down.

"How long will the mission take," Pietro asked.

"Fury says anywhere from three to four days max. He wanted me to lead the mission but I told him no," Talia said.

"Will you be able to call us?"

"I will. I will call to say good morning and good night."

"Can you call us just to see how we are doing?"

"I can try. Come on eat."

When they finished eating Talia grabbed her mission bag and looked at her family. Pietro was leaning into Bucky's left side, Daniella was laying her head on Bucky's chest, and Bucky was holding Daniella with his right hand while his left hand was around Pietro's shoulders and they were all watching Spongebob Squarepants on TV. She sighed with a smile on her face as she walked out of the door and softly shut it.
