Chapter 9

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

That was the only sound Talia could here. No Pietro. No Dani. No Bucky. Just the beep of a machine. Wait machine? Talia opened her eyes and looked around the room she was in. White walls and reeked of cleaning products. Hospital. Just great. Just as Talia sat up a nurse walked through the door.

"No no no no no. You must stay laying," the nurse said.

"My family. Where is my family," Talia asked.

"In the waiting room. But you can't see them. You need to rest first."

"Fuck resting. I need to see my kids and husband first before I do anything else. So go bring in my family before I go find them myself."

The nurse looked shocked before she walked out the door slamming it behind her. It took a few minutes but soon enough the door was opened and Talia could hear footsteps. One sounded light so it was Daniella and the other pair sounded a little bit heavy and a little bit light so that was Pietro. And Talia was proven right when both Pietro and Daniella jumped into her hospital bed.

"Before hugs can happen there's one thing you need to know. My ribs are heating so hugs need to be gentle. Now for hugs."

Talia held open her arms and right away Pietro and Daniella were hugging her. Pietro was under Talia's left arm and Daniella was more on the left side of her chest.

"Why didn't Dad come with you guys?"

"The nurse told him that you only wanted to see us. He looked hurt but let us come see you," Pietro answered.

"OK. Can you and Dani go with Uncle Nick and tell Dad to come? I really need to see him."

Pietro and Daniella walked out of the room and Talia sighed. The moment she was released she had a nurse to kill. The moment Bucky walked into the room Talia tried to get out of the bed but couldn't even stand. Bucky walked over to the bed and laid Talia back down.

"I can understand why you didn't want to see me."

"Buck I told the nurse that I wanted to see my husband and kids before I even think about resting. When I heard the footsteps I thought you were just walking slowly with the kids."

"So you did want to see me?"

"I did want to see you."

"When I was waiting your brother was there. Do you want to talk to him?"

"Not yet. I just wasn't you here right now."

Bucky crawled into the space next to Talia's left side and Talia laid on her left side laying her right arm across Bucky's stomach.

"How bad do your ribs hurt?"

"Not bad. I mean I can deal with the pain but it still hurts."

"Now I really wish you didn't fight."

"Well suck it up because I would have fought even if you sent me to the safe house."

"How would you get out of the safe house?"

"I have my magic."

"Well curse you and your magic."

"Hey, Bucky?"

"Yeah, Talia?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."

Together they fell asleep. When Fury walked into the room with a piece of paper in his hand he stopped short just by the door. He smiled at the soon to be married couple as he placed an envelope on Talia's lap and walked out of the room. The next morning when Talia woke up her eyes caught the envelope. Carefully she grabbed it, opened it, and read over a piece of paper as her eyes widened.

"Talia, what's wrong?"

"It's from Tony. He says we're unfit parents and is now fighting us for custody of Dani."

"What?"

Bucky took the piece of paper from Talia and read over it. By the time he could even move off the bed Talia had changed into her battle outfit, grabbed the paper from him, and was out the door. Talia walked into the conference room where she knew Fury would be. Walking up to the door Talia didn't knock she pushed the door open and walked into the room like she owned the place. At the head of the table was Fury. With no hesitation in her movements, Talia walked up to Fury and slammed the piece of paper on to the table.

"Did you know about this," Talia asked.

"It was handed to me yesterday in an envelope. A few minutes after you passed out from the pain. I didn't know what was inside the envelope until now," Fury said.

"Tony is taking Bucky and me to S.H.I.E.L.D family court and is fighting us for custody of Dani. He wants to take her away from us."

"Listen we'll get in front of this. Everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D knows you guys are good parents. I'm sure Phil will represent you and Bucky and I'll make sure Dani either goes with me, Maria or Strange. For now, let's go talk to Stark. See why he's doing this."

Fury walked out of the room with Talia on his heels. They walked through the halls until they reached the Avengers training room. Fury opened the doors and walked in and Talia was right beside him. Everyone in the room was quiet as Fury and Talia looked around. Once they found Tony, Talia wasted no time walking over to him and punching him straight in the jaw.

"You're a fucking asshole, Tony. Suing me for custody of Dani? She's not your child. Try taking her and she will shut down. When Buck and I were on the run do you know how hard it was to give Daniella to Strange and make sure she was safe? It was so fucking hard. She wouldn't even speak to him for the first month she was with him. It took thirty calls from Bucky and me to tell her she was safe. One year Tony! It took one fucking year to get HYDRA off of Bucky's and I's back before we could even come back for Dani! I'm already a pissed off mother make a move of even trying to cross me and I will kick your ass into next week."

With that Talia walked out of the room down to her recording studio. She walked inside, locked the door, and walked into the recording area. Talia didn't feel like recording a song but just wanted to sing. She pressed a button and hear an instrumental song come through the speakers. Once the part came on to sing her soft gentle voice filled the room.

When Talia stopped singing she walked out of the room and to Toothless. She got on his back and they took off to the sky. Talia wanted to be alone so alone she shall be.
