(12) Sophia's Graduation Gift

They all went back to Winnie's house to have cake and ice cream since she had bought a cake for the occasion. They both were feeding cake to Kinsley and Katelynn as they sat beside each other. Sophia came over to Sloane and said "Sloane..I am so proud of you baby. You showed me your mama and your daddy that despite everything that life has thrown at you, you showed us all that you could do it. And now I need to tell you something and show you something." 

'Okay." she said confused 

"Katelynn do you know who this." Sophia said to Katelynn as she pointed to Sloane.

"Mama.." Katelynn said 

Sloane looked at Sophia confused and said "She knows who I am." as a tear fell down her cheek.

Sydney said "Baby me and Sophia never claimed to be mama to her. The papers that you signed that day in the hospital were these. They were not adoption papers." 

Sophia handed her a envelope and Sloane opened the envelope and read the papers 

"This statement states that until Sloane Ashlynn Baxter age 15 is legally giving consent to Sophia Megan Carter to be Katelynn Marie Carter's legal guardian until she graduates high school. Ms Baxter will regain her rights to Katelynn on the day she graduates high school." 

She looked where she signed it and Sophia signed it. "Sophia.." Sloane said 

"I was never going to take her away from you baby. And now look on the next paper in that envelope." Sophia said 

"This statement states that when Sloane Ashlynn Barnes graduates high school and is legally Katelynn Carter's legal guardian again. Her husband James Buchanan Barnes is legally allowed to adopt Katelynn Marie Carter. " 

She saw where Bucky signed the form along with Sophia and Sydney. She looked at him and said "You knew.. that's why you wanted three bedrooms." 

"She told me about the agreement she didn't want you to know cause she wanted it to get your graduation present." Bucky said 

Sloane kissed him and hugged him as she stood on her toes. "That's why I'm doing online classes baby so I have enough to take care of my girls why I've also been promoted to Assistant Manager even though according to dad I've always had that title but now I'm getting paid for it." he said 

She smiled and said "I love you Bucky oh god do I love you." 

"We have another present baby." Sydney said

"What's that." she said 

"Me and Sophia just put a deposit on apartment for me and her so you had more family support then just James' family." Sydney said 

"Oh my gosh this is the best freaking day ever." she said 

She hugged everyone then she hugged her girls and said "I have my girls my husband my family oh my gosh this is the best day ever." as she wiped tears. 

Bucky said "Katelynn .. do you know who this little girl is beside you." 

"Sissy.." Katelynn said 

Sydney said "We have been working on it " 

They both smiled and Winnie said "You gave me two beautiful grand daughters Sloane." 

"Thank you I hope I give you a grandson one day." she said 

"Me too" Bucky said 

That night Bucky and her had both girls in their bed that night. Sophia told them that she would bring them Katelynn's stuff when they start moving into their apartment and they move into their duplex. The next day they started to pack up their stuff in the basement while they kept the girls in the playpen. 

They put together Katelynn's room first James and Winnie helped them get furniture for it since Sophia still had her in a crib. 

After they finished her room they moved on to Kinsley's room and their room. 

By the end of the week they were completely moved in and each room was fixed up. Bucky let Sloane decorate each room the way she wanted the duplex to look to make it look more grown up and adult. All Sloane asked Bucky to do when she was decorating the house was help her hang everything up and baby proof.
