We all were confused for a whole single minute. We didn't know what to think. Finally, Amy broke the silence.
"Um-we're here? There's nothing there!" She shouted. She burst into tears again, screaming that she wanted to go back home and back to school, and muttered under her breath that she would preferably be there with Isabelle alive and healthy. She cried so hard, even Charlie couldn't calm her down. I suddenly knew what to do. It wasn't out of the blue that Amy would have a tantrum. She would come back to our dorm, crying and screaming her eyes out. I would have a seat on the bed, hold her hands and count backwards from 10 with her. Once we reached 1, she would be completely calm. That's what I tried once she had another fit just now. I silently signaled Charlie to drop her hand. I then took them in mine. She looked into my eyes while I looked into hers. We started counting, 10, 9, 8.......3, 2, 1. She was completely silent.
"No-ho-ho-ho, my dear," Ms. Jones chided. "We're here, but we're not. Look closely. You should see it. You saw Megaera as what she is, so you must see this."
"What do you mean, see Megaera as what she is?"
"Megaera, kid. I mean by normal mortals couldn't see the monster. They would just see Mrs. Figg throwing a temper." She explained.
"Um, I'm confused," Jaz muttered.
I squinted my eyes and still saw nothing. I concentrated until my ears popped. Nothing. I gave Ms. Jones a helpless look.
"Concentrate, my dear. Imagine that there is a giant bird right here. I know you can do this." Ms. Jones assured us.
This time, I imagined a giant bird standing right in front of me, and I thought an image of a bird shimmer in front of me. Jaz gasped. Apparently, she had saw it too. We walked towards the bird, and it snapped at us. I almost stumbled.
"Ah, my dears. I'm Ms. Jones. You wonderful dears simply saw through the mist and saw my true form, which is a bird. I can turn into a bird, into a human then back."
"What-what about the other bird?" I stammered.
"Nah. It's just my cousin."
The big jet-black bird did a 360 degrees spin in midair and turned into a human with tiny black eyes and spikey blond hair.
"Justin Jackaroo." He offered.
"Hi," I said.
"Hi, 'hi'. --"
"No! Lily." I corrected.
"Fine. Hop on." He did another spin and turned back into a black bird.
We carefully hopped on. I accidentally stepped on its tail. It honked and yonked and squatted and flapped its wings.
"S-sorry!" I stammered.
"AH, stupid girl. GET ON!" The bird bellowed.
So, we got on again, this time careful not to step on his tail again.
