Just a friend

Stupid, stupid Chanyeol and his stupid, stupid boy band. How did I let him convince me to things that didn't even fly past my mind in the first place?

"For the last time Chanyeol, I'm not interested in your band members, or your band for that matter! Can't we just spend time together like we normally do before you shot to fame?" I whined as Chanyeol hauled me towards his car with just one arm.

"Stop using that against me, Y/N. I'm still the same person before and after fame." Chanyeol didn't even turn back as he pressed on his car key.

"If you're the same person, you wouldn't force your best friend to meet someone they're not even remotely interested in!" I resorted to biting his arm as my last stand. This sounds stupid, but the idea of going to meet the boys seem to further corroborate the fact that Chanyeol and I are growing apart.

If he's so desperate for me to meet them, they must be so much better than me. And the truth is, I don't think I'll ever get used to being Chanyeol's second best friend, not after being his first since elementary school.

"Aish Y/N, you little savage! Let go, you weirdo!" Chanyeol flung his arm around in desperation to get rid of my dribbling mouth.

"Chanyeol please, you know I'm not good with people...." I pleaded as he opened the passenger door for me, my eyes watering with anxiety.

Chanyeol softened but released his tough grip on mine: "Y/N-ah, this is for your own good. You need to step out of your comfort zone and live without me. The boys are honestly the best people you'll ever meet. What will you do if I have to go on tour or something?"

"I could wait for you to come back." I replied seriously.

Chanyeol stared at me, baffled. "Okay that's it, you're definitely coming."

The boys are.... scintillating, and I find solace in my mind that's running a hundred miles per hour. My anxiety of being in the same room with the opposite sex (not to mention the baffling number of them) was assuaged by a guy named Suho who couldn't stop making pathetic jokes and  the carefree nature of the boys, who treated me as if I'm one of them.

All except one, this surly-faced brat that's supposedly the maknae of the group. That guy is the most enigmatic one out of them all as he stared at me with an apathetic look the whole duration.

"What?" A burst of adrenaline ran through my veins as I called out loud, startling Chanyeol beside, who knew about my quiet nature.

"What what?" The maknae glared back at me.

"Is there a particular reason you're staring at me like that?" I didn't back down. If he thinks his poker-face could perturb me, he's got another thing coming.

He scoffed lightly, with a haughty expression stuck to his face: "Stop being so full of yourself, princess."

I felt even flattered than I should've at the word 'princess' albeit the context behind it.

"Anyone wants some refreshments?" I piped up, becoming much more familiar and aggregated in this big family.

The guys shouted out their preferences, but there was so many of them that I literally have to pull out my phone and jot down a memo.

"Alright, so for Xiumin oppa, Lays chips and for Sehun...." I trailed off as I watched him narrow his eyes at me.

"Seaweed, you dimwit."

"Is he honestly like this all the time?" I lamented to the guys while they just shrugged.

"Well, Sehun is Sehun. I guess it's going to be a while before his raging 19 year old testoterone die down a bit." Suho commented sagely.

"I'd rather not be like you, Suho." Sehun didn't even look up from his phone as he retorted back rudely.

Chanyeol mouthed: "Just go." before I could make an even bigger scene. Though shy and dainty, I'm not one to tolerate the disrespect given to elders, especially since it's such a huge culture in Korea.

As I stepped into the huge walk-in linen they have in their dorm and marveled for a full minute at the sight such a magical place, I heard someone walking towards me and into the linen.

"I'll be done in a minute." I turned around to face a very annoyed Sehun.

"The hyungs forced me to come in to help you. Don't flatter yourself into thinking that I'm here voluntarily." Sehun rolled his eyes at me.

"Listen here, you little-"

The door to the walk-in linen slammed shut behind us, and a firm click was heard from outside.
