The lost candy

The rest of the weekend Draco and Harry were closer than ever. The whole Sunday they found excuses to touch each other, even when there were others with them. 

During the week they met up at least once a day in a abandoned classroom or the ROR. They only had one week until Christmas so they didn't have much homework. 

On Wednesday the twins came to them with two identical first years in tow. Apparently George had let one of the soul candies fall and a first year had picked it up. 

Thinking it was another Weasley joke he eat it to make his future wife laugh, she had been down for some time and didn't know why. When he changed into her they wanted to know what the candy exactly did. Audrey Selwyn, a Slytherin first year and soul heir to the Selwyn line had been betrothed since birth to William Burke.

At first she had been against it but didn't say anything because she knew she had to do it for her family. Getting to know her intended slowly made her fall in love with him but the more she fell in love the more she became scared. Scared he would never love her, scared that the moment they had an heir he would leave her for another woman. 

William knew the candy was from the Weasley twins but since they weren't at Hogwarts anymore, even though they sometimes saw them, they send them a letter explaining their problem. Not long after the twins had shown up and brought them to the one and only Harry Potter. Once again they explained how they had found the candy, William let out the part that he used it to make his intended laugh out of embarrassment. He was part of a very ancient and noble family and couldn't show weakness. Showing affection was in his family considered as weak. 

Harry let them to a couch towards the fire. "What I am about to tell you as a big secret and has to stay in these room, once you leave here you can't tell anyone about this. Can I trust you to keep your word or do I have to ask for an unbreakable vow?" Harry started very strict. He didn't like to be strict but one blabbermouth could ruin everything. Both Audrey and William promised they wouldn't tell, they even said they would make the vow if he really wanted to. The fact they wanted to do the vow was enough for Harry to know they wouldn't tell. 

"I don't know if you have realized but since a few weeks there is a treasure hunt going on. This treasure hunt is essentially a way to bring the houses together and form house unity. With the war coming closer we realized that if we wanted to win this war we had to work as one, a Hogwarts and not at four different houses. During the hunt we had to ask people from all houses to help us. This hunt was only a hunt for the sixth year and some of their friends but if the hunt is a success we might make one for the whole school." 

Both Audrey's ( William with the candy) were now very intrigued both were from Slytherin but they always wanted to know the other from their year, not only from their house. Seeing Harry had caught their attention he continued. "One of the challenges was to make a specific type of candy. This candy was originally made to show you the person you love but it became something much more powerful." 

Audrey ( the real one) looked a bit sad. "It doesn't show you who you love?" Harry smiled kindly at her, Draco had told him her story and he found it one of the most beautiful love stories he had ever heard. Both loved each other with all their heart but were to afraid to tell the other. He was grateful to Lady Magic that the candy landed with them. 

"No, he continued, the candy does indeed not show you the person you love, it shows you much more. The candy makes the person who ate it change into their soulmate." William went very white, his secret was now out in the open, Audrey knew he loved her and was now going to reject her, he was sure of it. 

Harry felt sorry for William so he continued. "A soulmate is something that goes both ways, one cannot be a soulmate of someone who is a soulmate to someone else, so as Audrey is your soulmate so are you hers." Both teens had the biggest smile on their faces, their fears had been for nothing. William's smile was very quickly replaced by the mask he always had on. 

Seeing the mask Harry had a flashback to a blond who used to have a mask like that, even in private as well. He indicated to the twins he wanted to talk to William alone so they took Audrey to show her some of their new inventions. Harry turned back to William "I know it's not what you believe now but that mask does more bad than good, especially in private. Show her you are happy, show her you love her." William looked down. "But it's a sign of weakness" he said. "I am from the ancient and noble house of Burke and we don't show emotions, it makes us weak." 

Harry took a parchment from his robe and wrote something on it before rolling it back in his pocket. 

"I'm going to tell you a little story. This is the story of a small boy your age who was also thought to have a mask and to not show any emotions. This little boy wanted to be friends with someone who didn't know anything about the rules of the masks, even of he himself was also a pureblood. You see since his parents had died he had been raised by a squib and her muggle husband who knew nothing about those rules. When the you noble pureblood went to the boy he wanted to befriend he used what his father had told him to make an impression on the boy so he would want to be fis friend. Unfortunalty for him he sounded like a real pompous ars and the little boy refused the friendship. This really hurt the noble pureblood but he didn't show it, instead he did everything to get the attention of the little boy, even if it meant bully him, all because he couldn't show his true emotions and had to put on a mask. If he had shown his emotions the little boy would've maybe seen the real little boy behind it and would have accepted the hand of friendship a long time ago."

"So all I had to to was by nice to you?" the new voice startled the two. Harry turned around and saw Draco behind them. Harry stood up and took Draco in a hug, he had really missed him since they couldn't show their emotions in public.

 "Harry, we are not alone" Draco said, a bit of fear in his voice. Harry chuckled, "Don't worry my love I trust them." William was looking at them in awe. He had never seen Draco so open, not even in the common room. 

Remembering his place he stood up and bowed his head in acknowledgement. "My prince" he said to greet Draco. Harry looked shocked at Draco. "Prince?" Draco sat down on the couch making sure he showed William could also sit on the couch. 

"In slytherin we have a sort of hierarchy, there is the prince which is the one that, when there is no Slytherin heir, can make all the rules and the punishments, since I am the son of the right hand man of the Slytherin heir I was made prince very easily, normally it takes a lot of effort. Being the son of a well known death eater I need the keep up the appearance, even though I don't like it. But to come back to the manner at hand. Harry is right William that mask really is bad for you especially in private, show Audrey you love her and it will strengthen your relationship so much. If you are stil afraid of your family you can always keep up the mask in public like I do. But tell her about it, Harry knows about my mask and plays along with it in public but the moment we are in private or around people who know about us we drop all pretence and are ourself in all our glory." 

William seem to think about it then dropped his mask, walked over to Audrey who was still talking to the twins and without saying anything kissed her with all the love he felt for her earning a few wolf whistles from the other occupants of the room. After promising again they wouldn't tell anyone what had been said here, the twins gave William the antidote and all left the ROR leaving Harry and Draco alone once more.
