That night I couldnt stop myself from thinking about Frank. Did I like him? Did I think he was crazy? Do I hate him? It was all just jumbled in my brain like puzzle pieces that would never fit together.
When Mikey had asked where I was after school I had to tell him I went to an extra help class, to which he laughed in my face. Its always nice to know I have a supportive brother there for me when I needed him.
Obviously I couldnt tell him I was out drinking with Frank in the middle of no where. He already thought I was straight, why scare him with the thought I was hooking up with this asshole that beat kids up in the hall? I think he might just laugh at that too.
"Gerard? Can I come in?"
My mother called from behind my door. I sighed to myself and got up, unlocking and opening my door.
"Sweetie, I gotta talk to you."
I raised an eyebrow at her, walking back over to my bed and sitting cross-legged on top my Star Wars comforter.
"I got a phone call from
the school today and they said you skipped the last three classes....whats this about?"
I groaned, laying back and staring up at the ceiling.
"Its nothing mom...they must just marked me off by accident. "
"Oh come on that's bullshit and you know it."
She said, rolling her eyes.
"Okay. So. Ugh. Mom. Fine. I skipped with a friend."
"You have a friend?"
She asked, wide eyed.
Thanks mom. Yes. I have a friend. Is it really that surprising?
"Yeah. Thanks."
I said, leaning over my dresser and grabbing my pack of cigarettes.
"Well tell me about them? Is it a girl?"
I scoffed slightly and pulled one out, lighting it.
"No. It's a guy. Mom I already told you... I dont...like..girls."
"Right. Right. Okay well. Tell me about HIM."
She stole my pack of cigarettes and took one out for herself.
"Theres nothing to tell you. I mean. His name's Frank. Uh. He's in my math class..."
I shrugged looking past her at the tv that shone a series of colors.
"Do you like him?"
I looked back at her, narrowing my eyes.
"Just because im gay doesnt mean I like every guy I see."
She held up her hands in defeat.
"Jeez. Sorry for asking."
Then she smirked at me and hit my knee, not hard though.
"Youre still not off the hook for skipping mister."
"Whats my punishment this time?"
"Hmm.. maybe ill make you cook dinner."
"You wouldn't dare."
"-with my pink apron and everything. "
"I didnt realize my mother was satan until just now."
She rolled her eyes and hit me again, this time on my arm.
"Dont do it again."
She called over her shoulder as she left my room.
