Kitty's POV 😅
I got up the next morning, Matt was next to me on the couch. We fell asleep watching a movie. "Hey," he said. "Hey, want breakfast?" I asked. "Yeah," he replied. And with that, I stepped into the kitchen and looked into the fridge for eggs.
As I rummaged around, I finally decided that there were none. "Matt, we need to go to the store," I called before he gave me a faint, "Let me grab my keys." in return. I walked with him to his car and drove to the store. I kept thinking about Fire. Maybe I'd meet her again someday.
As we parked, I walked inside with Matt and we got the stuff we needed. Walking out, I saw a girl with black fading into red hair with a shirt that had oil stains on it and some camo jeans with a belt that had a pocket knife on it. That looked like Skylar, but it couldn't be. I don't know why she would even care about me.
As me and Matt got home, it was near lunch time so I let him make his own lunch while I made mine, and I had to clean up a little around the house. Moose was supposed to come over for dinner. After I cleaned up while Matt was in his room playing Minecraft the whole time, I decided to curl up on the couch with Ice and binge watch Stranger Things. I held onto the ice blue half heart BFF necklace around my neck.
A little while later, the doorbell rang after me and Matt got dressed for dinner. Matt was in a tux and I was in a ice blue dress. I opened the door and there stood Moose and Fire at the door, Fire in a fire colored dress and George in a white tux. I smiled and let them both in, a little worried about Fire.
As we ate dinner, I couldn't stop staring at her. She was beautiful and no, I'm not gay, but she wouldn't remember me or the reason we even stopped talking. It was pointless.
As Matt and George talked, I looked up at Fire and our eyes met. "Hey, Skylar," I said. "Hey," she mumbled. "Do you remember me?" I asked. "Remember all the phone calls we had? The games we played? The friendship we built?" She looked clueless. "I have no idea what you're talking about..." she said, looking away.
Tears filled my eyes as I looked at the necklace. She wasn't even wearing her necklace. Her fire orange half heart BFF necklace wasn't anywhere to be found around her neck.
"Are you okay...?" she whispered. I shook my head. "I'm your best friend, Skylar. You have this necklace somewhere, I know it." Her eyes got wide and she took something out of her pocket. "Something like this?" she asked as she held the necklace up. I smiled. "Yes, Skylar...
...I'm Peyton."
