Ashton's P.O.V
It's Friday afternoon, my aunt and uncle are to be here in any minute. I rushed around my house to make sure to my home was looking nice. I wish Grace could meet them but my uncle wouldn't approve. He doesn't like the blacks. Even though she's only half he still wouldn't like the idea. I don't know why. But then again, I'm a grown man I can do whatever I want.
Once I get done making sure my house was looking presentable, I plopped down on my couch with a heavy sigh. I lean my head back and pinched the bridge of my nose. This is going to be a long weekend without my girl. A moment passes and there's a knock at my door. I get up from the couch and looked through the peephole.
It's Grace. I open the door with a smile on my face. Her face lights up when she sees me. She wraps her skinny arms around my neck. I chuckle and pulled her close to me. We haven't seen each other since Tuesday and now it's Friday. We pull apart and I dip down and capture her lips with mine.
She giggles and pulls away, "I missed you." I smile at her and grabbed her hand. I pull her inside and closed the door behind us. We walk over to the couch and took a seat. "I've missed you too sweets. How's school going for you?" I ask, wrapping my arm around her shoulder. She rests her head on my shoulder, "It's school. Junior year is going so slow."
I chuckle, "I understand. Back at home my junior year went crazy slow." She looks up and smiles at me, "I believe it." I smile and place a kiss on her head. We talked for awhile and then there's a knock at my door. I get up and opened the door revealing my uncle and aunt. They have smiles plastered on their faces.
My aunt pulls me into a tight hug, "Ashy I've missed you so. How are you?" She pulls away and looks me up and down. I smile down at her. I look over at my uncle and gave him a firm handshake. "I've missed you too, Aunt Ellie. I've been doing good. Making it." I welcomed them into my house as I grabbed their luggage.
"Who's this?" My uncle asks from the living room. I walk into my house, with their luggage with a smiley Grace. Panic runs through me. I set their luggage beside my recliner and made my way to Grace. I wrap my arm around her and introduced her, "Aunt Ellie and Uncle Martin, this Grace Thompson. She's my," I hesitate.
I have no idea what to call her. A friend or my girlfriend. I never asked her but I don't want her to think she's not special. I'll explain to it to her later, "friend. She's been by my side since the beginning of this year." I smile at them. "Hi. It's nice to meet you." Grace says, with her hand out. My uncle looks her up and down with disgust all over his face. I clench my jaw. My aunt puts on a warm smile and walks towards Grace.
"You too, sweetie." She says, shaking Grace's hand. She releases her hand and walks back to my uncle. My uncle doesn't move. He gives her a nod with a hard look. She comes close to me. My uncle and I lock eyes and I give him a glare. This is going to be very bad.
"Grace go to my room. I have to talk to them alone." I whispered in her ear. She looks up at me and nods. She leave my side and walks to my room. She closes the door and that's when my uncle makes his comment, "Are you messing around with a nigger?" He spits. Anger boils through my veins. "Don't you ever call her that!" I seethed.
"That's what she is." He argues. I walk up to him getting into his face, "She is not that. She is a human being just like you and me. So what her skin tone is a little darker than ours. It's what on the inside that counts. And what's inside of her it's what's inside of us Uncle Martin." I tell him.
