3:15.
The next week.
On the dot.
Michael sneaks through the door to escape the crowded hall way, his nurse trotting on without noticing his sudden disappearance.
"Hello Calum. I take it you usually sleep at this time of day." He removes his hands from his pockets, taking off his Manchester United jacket and throwing onto the chair like the other day.
This time he quietly as he can, drags one of the other chairs over to Calum's bed.
"Okay, I know we don't know each other very well but I have to get something off my chest. Its been eating away at my insides since second grade." He begins slowly as if he's reluctant to spit it out. "I was the one who stole the class pet."
He sighs in satisfaction, he rolls his shoulders back a couple of times before continuing his story, "Our class pet was a turtle, named Benjamin, I thought he was super cool. One day I just decided why not? I kidnapped the turtle from his tank and put him in my show and tell shoe box. I was taking him for a walk three days later, in my backyard and I just fucking lost him. The End."
He takes a look around the room once again, as if to check if anything changed.
He walks over to the bedside table, plucking the only item off of it.
Michael mouths the words as he reads along to the little card.
"I got one of these too, except it said 'get well soon' in neon pink highlighter. The little girl told me I could be a princess like her if I tried really hard." He grinned, looking at the floor with rosy cheeks. "She's visiting tomorrow with her tea set." He whispers quickly as if it would become less embarrassing if he said it super fast.
"You can come if you want to." The embarrassed atmosphere disappears with his gorgeous but shy smile. "Maybe I'll leave you a note so when you wake up later you will know where to go."
"It sounds like I'm trying to ask you on a date, a really lame date with little plastic china plates and cream soda instead of tea." He groans, burying his face into the mattress next to Calum's legs.
"You obviously have the option not to come, seeing as we're as close as strangers." He continues, laying out the pros and cons to waste a bit of time.
He places the card back down on the table, " I don't know what to think of these cards, three school's dragged their kindergartens here with cute hand-made cards but at the same time the school board is exposing them to reality and illness." Michael shakes his head. "They could have exposed the children to contagious diseases without even realizing."
"How often do people visit you, this is usually when I see the most visitors wondering around. Are you from another country? Is that why your sleep schedule is so beat up--Fu--Frick, sorry bad choice of words." He quickly corrects his language to something more suitable for children.
"I'm also sorry for swearing so much, I'm so used to it that it slips out constantly." He rubs his eyes and lets out a yawn.
It would take someone a while to actually notice how tired Michael really was, the dark circles under his eyes were surprisingly hard to notice against his vampire-pale skin. His posture was in a constant slouch, he leaned on something if he had to stand, he looked like he could nod off at any second.
"I'm tried all the time." He whines, glancing at the clock.
"I have to go to some kind of Cardio check up thing test-which I'm going to fail miserably-same time next week?" He asks, heading for the door at a sluggish pace. Michael opens the door, completely forgetting his jacket.
"Goodbye Calum."
