A/N: Do you like the new cover? :D I made it myself
3:42.
Michael swings the door open, pushing in a cart with a white table cloth covering it. He winces when the door bangs against the wall.
"Sorry about that..." He mumbles, closing the door with extra care and pushing the cart right next to Calum's bed.
"You won't believe how difficult this was," Michael wheezes, taking longer than usual to catch his breath. "But let me tell you, that won't be the last time I sneak out of the hospital." His smile evolves into a full-blown grin as he throws the white bed sheet off the cart to reveal a few items on the bottom shelf.
"Happy Birthday, I guess." He cheers awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck a he surveys the items on the cart with unease.
"I, uh, don't know you so I basically just assumed." He explains to the sleeping boy as he unwraps the first present. He holds up small box of neon coloured guitar picks and places them on the bedside table. After a small amount of hesitation he opens the little plastic case and pulls out a single bright yellow guitar pick and does a comparison against his own hair, which was more dull than the pick, but still a nice lemon yellow colour.
He picks up the second gift and unwraps it for Calum, producing a baseball-sized snow globe. He shook it and placed it on the table, positioning it so Calum would be able to see the little city inside it if he turned his head.
"I went to New York once," Michael said, gesturing to the snow globe. "My dad told me to buy whatever I wanted from the store as long as I was quick about it. There was so much stuff there, most electronic toys but that caught my eye. And I want you to have it, like a token of our friendship that you don't know we have."
The third gift was a large jar of red suckers, "Only the best." Michael commented, patting the jar once before putting it on the table.
The final gift was a large purple elephant with over-sized ears and big cartoon eyes. "I had to fight a little girl for a black bear, and I lost so you're just going to have to deal with having a feminine elephant." Michael smirked, picking up Calum's arm and resting the stuffed animal underneath.
Michael picked up a square piece of plastic that reflected fluorescent light that almost blinded him, "This isn't really a present." He says. "We'll have to share because it was the last one on the shelf. He showed the All Time Low album to Calum before opening it and taking the CD out. He picked up another item off the cart and plugged the cord into the outlet.
He clicked the lid of the contraption and stuck the disk in. He closed the lid and pressed play on the miniature X-Men CD player. He put it down next to the little stuffed lion on the floor.
"I couldn't get you a cake because personally, I'm not very fond of it and I don't have a fridge in my room. So instead of cake he picks up the last two items off the cart and shows them to Calum.
First he holds up a really cheap and thoughtless card that says 'Get Well Soon' with a bouquet of red and orange flowers beneath. "I know, super lame but Roslyn bought me the last Batman one..."
He unrolls a poster and turns it so if Calum was awake he'd be able to see. A poster that showed four different coloured masks on a black background, purple, blue, orange, red. "Everyone likes Ninja Turtles." He shrugged, before getting up and taping it to the white wall. Michael collected the wrapping paper and began wheeling the cart toward the door.
"Goodnight Calum."
