"Ashpaw and Lightningslash!"

The Clan once again turned to the accused cats, and they reluctantly walked up to the great tree. Ashpaw was forced away from comforting Honeypaw and pushed towards the high rock by a cat behind her. Lightningslash looked mournfully at Fernspeck, who gaped as her mate was lead away from her. Featherpaw's eyes watered, an uncommon reaction. "Dad didn't do it!" she screeched, before Fernspeck pulled her away.

Cherrykit and Briarkit whimpered. "Why are Lightningslash and Ashy being accused mother?" Briarkit whispered. "Hush..." Rushflower muttered.

"Well then DawnClan. Are they innocent, or guilty?"

Proof of Ashpaw's Innocence

- She has darker fur, but there's no evidence of both fur colours

- She's more serious and just a little grumpy, not really the killing type

- She's friends with Honeypaw who had her mentor killed

- She's quite young, maybe not strong enough to do it alone

Proof of Ashpaw's Guilt

- She hated Cedarleap

- She avoids most cats and doesn't like them very much if she doesn't trust them

- She prefers night over day and could've gone out at that time

- She could've lost her temper and been pushed over the edge

Proof of Lightningslash's innocence

- He has a mate and kits, its very unlikely he'd betray them

- He's quite charming and loving towards she-cats, it is unlikely that he would kill them

- He's quite a large, fluffy cat, it would be difficult for him to disguise himself in the thin trees or bushes

- He liked Lilyspring, he likes all kits and his daughter was good friends with Cloverwish

Proof of Lightningslash's guilt

- He has light coloured fur but there's no evidence of both fur colours

- He is reasonably strong
