This is a dream I had once when I was little. Like elementary school age. And I still remember it.
The dream was about this giant pink eagle named Ruby who would take little children from abusive families and turn them into baby/toddler Care Bears. And in my mind that's where the Care Bears came from. Also Ruby could shapeshift, and her Eagle form was the form she'd use to rescue children, and she had this ruby throated hummingbird form that she'd use for the rest of the time.
But there was also this bad guy. This giant dark hawk/eagle/generic bird of prey. I don't remember his name though. He'd take little children from random households, not abusive ones. And he'd make them into "bad" Care Bears. The only ones I remember being "bad" were Bedtime and Grumpy. Idk why though. But they weren't really bad.
I don't remember some/all of the details, but Ruby saved all the Care Bears and raised them with the others.
