And...I'm back! This is Luna's point of view, hope it's good. It's really difficult to completely express how she thinks so yeah. Enjoy love you all!!!
_____________It was almost comical, really, that two outcasts should run into one another at the time one needed the other's advice most.
Or it was just sheer, dumb luck.
"Hello Draco." Luna's airy voice floated to Draco's perked ears.
Clearly, he had been shedding much needed tears in what, Luna considered, he believed was a nicely secluded clearing in the Forbidden Forest.
This clearing, however, was where the Thestrals roamed, unheeded by those who had not witnessed death in any form.
Luna, of course, having witnessed her mother's death at only nine years old, could see them.
And through this ability, her fascination with this painfully beautiful creature sparked.
"Lovegood?, Draco looked up completely flabbergasted by her presence, "I don't deserve your help, please, just...go."
Luna smiled with melancholy.
"Funny, she patted a nearby thestral lovingly, "those who truly deserve aid, don't need it, whereas those who least deserve aid, are in most need of it."
Draco let out another painful sob, shaking his small frame violently.
"Advice should be given freely, Luna sighed coming to sit on her bare heels, "especially to those who least deserve it."
Draco looked into the nearly grey eyes that could mirror his own. But these held kindness and warmth instead of pain and suffering, cold and despair.
"Why, Draco gasped out, "why are you so kind to me? I've persecuted you...I've called you Loony for years! How could you possibly find it in yourself to pity me?"
"If you were to find a severely injured dragon infant, Luna inquired, airily, "would you let it perish?"
Answering a question with a question never ceased to excite the young witch of 15.
"Well, Draco's sobs had ceased and he was wiping his nose with a small cloth he must have fished out of his robes, "no I wouldn't."
Luna's smile brightened with success.
"Precisely."
"You don't understand, Luna. Nobody does." Draco held his face in his hands, but he seemed too weak to shed anymore tears.
"Understanding is not needed, Luna whispered softly, "to help a friend."
Draco laughed humorlessly.
"So we're friends now, Draco shook his platinum haired head, " you don't want to be friends with someone like me, Luna. You're too nice, too.......good. I'm evil, remember?"
Luna studied his somber expression.
"You're not evil, Luna stated bluntly, "you're not the boy who made all the wrong choices. You're the boy who didn't have a choice then, who doesn't have a choice now. There's a difference."
Draco smiled wryly as he turned to face her serene figure.
"Thanks Luna, he sighed, "you may not know, but at least you can understand."
Luna nodded. She rose and began to walk slowly, dreamily back onto the grounds.
Before she reached the end of the clearing, she called out to Draco's unfocused figure.
"She worries for you, Luna smiled knowingly, "not out of pity, out of love."
She turned fully before speaking in a clear voice that had never been used to address anyone.
"Quit pretending you don't love her, it's quite clear to everyone how you feel, except, of course, to her."
And then she was gone, leaving Draco to ponder their conversation until the lazy afternoon sun began to set.
