Chapter 13

Continuing with Natasha's POV

"Where'd they go?" I asked Machete.

"Home. Aidan was upset." He said.

"This is my fault." I said and headed for the exit.

I got home and looked in Aidan's room but he wasn't there. I went downstairs to ask Ethan where he was but he beat me to it.

"Tree house." Ethan said.

"Did he tell you?" I said sitting next to him.

"The last time you two fought you, two broke up and didn't get back together in 7 months." He said.

"We didn't. Sharon broke us up. We didn't know if we could trust each other enough to be with each other again." I said.

"Wasn't I enough to show you guys your love and trust? If you love dad, why did it take 7 months and not 7 mins or days. A week I could accept." He said.

"There are somethings your dad and I did to lose some trusts." I said.

"He's up there. Go and tell him before he inhales it all like cocaine." Ethan said and turns away.

"Hey." I said sternly.

"He'll be blinded by heartbreak, dumbfounded, and there'll be blame. Not to anyone but him. He won't know why but he'll live with it. If it goes wrong, he'll want it to work again buy he may have to wait 7 or more months. Then, he's gonna have to tell the other parent that he'll be going with the other parent for the summer, leaving the other one sad." He explained.

I head out and pretended to close the door.

"All I wanted was a summer with both of my parents. 'You have him for this month.' 'You have him for that.' At least one month, I would've accepted a day. " Ethan talked to himself.

My heart dropped too far for me to reach. But hopefully I could get Aidan to understand it was nothing.

"Aidan, can you come down?" I said softly.

"Do I have to?" He asked.

"No. But as long as you talk to me." I offered.

"Ok." He agreed.

"I can't answer for your dad but for me, I also don't want daddy and I to be apart. That's the last thing I want to happen." I said and a photo blew off his pics on the wall.

I caught it and it was Steve and I on Aidan's birthday. I flip it to the back side and it said Their love keeps me going.

"Than why fight?" He asked.

"Your dad wants me safe at all times, especially when he's not with me. So, he got really upset that I left this morning and I didn't tell him that I was on a mission. He was dissapointed. He wants to fight along my side but I keep thinking if we don't make it. What are you two gonna react? I just want it to make sure that you guys at least have one of us to have. I want dad to be it." I said.

"Does dad know?" He said.

"Yes, but he hates it." I said.

"Why can't it be both who survive? To have a victory and go home to your kids alive and well." He said.

Authors POV

As the two talked, on the other side of the big tree was Steve listening to them. He felt worse than life, he blamed it on him.

"Will you and dad get a divorce and love other people then have new kids?" Aidan asked.

"That escalated so fast, but if it comes to that I would just live my life as a single mom." Natasha said.

"No new kids? Another marriage?" Aidan questioned.

"I won't need any of them. You kids are all I need." She said.

"What if you go on a mission and not make it? Won't we be lonely?" He said.

"That's the thing about parents, there's 2 of them." Nat said.

"What if I don't want dad?" Aidan said.

"Then go to the person you want to be with." Nat said.

"But...you won't be there." He said.

"Oh." Natasha said finally seeing Steve's side on the argument.

As Natasha kept thinking about the kids, she didn't think of Steve. The kids would have Steve but who will Steve have? Other than the Avengers and SHIELD, Natasha is his favorite person. It never occurred to her that her husband was right after all.

Steve finally had the guts to appear from behind the tree and they exchanged smiles at each other. Ethan teleported into Aidan's tree house.

"Let's go." Ethan said.

"I don't want to." Aidan said.

"It's been 7 months, what do you do?" Ethan asked.

"I leave it." Aidan answered.

"Exactly." Ethan said and took his brother back to SHIELD.

"I know how you feel now." Nat confessed.

"Yeah. To be honest, I'd be the worst dad ever. You would tell me I wouldn't but you know how I am with heartbreak. I become a soldier with no emotion, just like when we broke up. You were in my dreams then I made it my goal, but you die, my goal will become suicidal to be with you." He said.

"You would do so much to be a good dad. Drop your goal to be with me because I will be there and make your goal to be a good dad they can count on." Nat said.

"You won't be there to tell me." He said.

"I already did." She said.

Sorry it took 2 chapters to finish it. I was in the mood for some sad stuff.
