Chapter 3

Later that day Evie, Jonathan, and Addilyn were in the Curator's office. Evie was explaining how the map had the seal of Seti the first. Addilyn rolled her eyes when her father asked his idotic questions, "Who the hell was Seti the first, and was he rich?" Evie looks at Jonathan with her 'really' face. "He was the second pharaoh of the 19th dynasty, said to wealthiest pharaoh of them all." Addilyn walked over to the Curator's bookshelf because she was not interested in hearing how old a map was.

Addilyn turned slightly when she heard them taking about Hamunaptra, the city of the dead. She caught the Curator holding the map a little close to the candle when the map caught on fire. The map catches on fire, the Curator throws it to the floor. Evie and Jonathan rush to out it out, and Addilyn kept out of the way. "You've burnt it! You've burned off the part with the lost city." The Curator back with his stone face replies "It's for the best, I'm sure."

"Many men have tried and failed to reach Hamunaptra, many have failed and never returned." Addilyn thought it sounded like a warning. The next day they step off the threshold into the Cairo Prison. While they were being led by an ugly smelly person, Evie and Jonathan were arguing about how Jonathan lied about where he got the map. "What makes us so special Aunt Evie, he lies to everyone." Addilyn says hoping to break up the argument. "I am his sister and you his daughter." Evie says, "That just make you more gullible." Jonathan mumbles.

As they approach the cage Evie asks why this an is in prison. The warden replied he was just looking for a good time. Addilyn looks over to see a man, long hair and messy looking bring brought out. Evie and Jonathan want to leave, "Who are you and who's the broads?" Evie sounded offended but Jonathan quickly said he was a missionary. "This is my sister Evie. And my daughter Addilyn." The warden shouts and walks away. "We found your puzzle box- "Evie begins. "No, you've come to ask me about Hamunaptra, I was there and found the puzzle box." Jonathan leans closer to the cage and gets punched in the face.

Evie steps over her brother and grabs Addilyn, "You swear you were at Hamunaptra." He smiles "Every damn day." Addilyn chuckles as Evie leans closer asking about getting them there and then he kisses Evie. Evie steps back in surprise, as the warden walks over "He is to be hanged he had a very good time." As Evie and Addilyn walk away, Evie says "We have to get him out of there."
