Kate and Jim walked down the hallway of the hospital, Ryan walked out of Johanna's room looking at them.  Kate glanced at her dad.

"Why don't you go on in and talk to her.  I'll be in shortly." Kate said Jim looked at the door, taking a deep breath he pushed it open.  Kate watched the door shut before looking back at Ryan.

"What did she say?"

"Simmons was the first one to kidnap her that night, they held her in New Jersey for about 5 years then they moved her to she thinks Washington Heights.  They stayed there till last year when they moved her to the Hamptons."

"Do you think Castle's there?" Kate asked.

"We aren't sure, she saw another person when they were getting her out and she was able to describe the room she was in so we are going to run that against layouts of abandoned buildings." Ryan looked at Kate apologetically. "I'm sorry this has happened, I know how hard all this was on you."

"I just want to find him and know that he's safe."

"We'll find him Kate, I promise." Ryan said Kate sighed closing her eyes in frustration.

“Did she tell you anything about 3xK or Simmons?” Ryan shook his head.

“The room she was in was dark and she never saw their faces but from what she was saying about things they said to her I can see them doing it.”

“If it’s the 3xK, I don’t know how long he’ll keep Castle alive now that he’s sent me the letter.” Kate said swallowing hard.

“I think we both know what he would say.” Ryan said looking at Kate knowingly.

“Yeah,”

“So how did your dad take it?” Ryan asked Kate glanced into the room.

“Shock, but I think he’s glad that she’s alive.” Kate said not looking at Ryan.

“Are you glad?”

“I don’t even know how to talk to her anymore, she missed almost 15 years of my life”

“If she’s anything like you she’ll want nothing but the truth from you.  I have the feeling she can handle it.” Ryan said Kate looked at him.

“Sarah Grace is lucky to have you as her father.” Kate said with a soft smile.

“I try my best, now go be with your mom and dad” Ryan said Kate nodded and walked to the door her hand hovering above the knob for a moment, she knocked softly and opened the door slipping inside the room quickly.  They both looked at her, she could tell her mom had been crying.  Kate smiled at them softly.

“We were just talking about you” Jim said moving over so Kate could bring over a chair.

“Oh well I’ll just leave.” Kate smiled looking at him.

“It was all good I promise” Johanna said forcing a smile, Kate glanced at her smiling at her sweetly.

“By all means please continue.” Kate said sitting back in her chair.

“I was just telling her about how you became a cop and all the good you’ve done” Jim said Kate looked at him. “I have every right to brag about my daughter to my own wife, I do it all the time at work” Kate rolled her eyes.

“Is that all?” Kate asked looking at her mom.

“Yeah, I was hoping you could tell me about your life.”

“Not much to tell.”

“What about this Rick person your father kept bringing up?” Johanna asked.

“We worked together for six years, he’s been gone a while now.” Kate said looking at Jim who reached out and took her hand.

“Gone?” Johanna asked looking at them.

“He went missing on the day that was supposed to be our wedding day.”

“That’s who you were going to marry?” Kate nodded.

“Yeah”

“Is he..?” Johanna trailed off.

“Dead?” Kate asked Johanna nodded.  “No he is actually the reason you’re alive and were able to escape.  He made a deal with the man who was holding you.”  Kate said with a sigh.

“You didn’t tell me that” Jim said looking at Kate.

“I’m still processing sorry” Jims phone rang and he looked at it.

“I’ll be right back I have to take this.” Jim said standing up, he answered the phone walking out the door.

"How is he?" Johanna asked Kate looked down for a moment.

"He's better now than he was, he took it really hard and for a lot of years it wasn't good.  I don't think me becoming a cop helped and it made our relationship that much harder.  He's been sober 9 years now." Johanna sighed closing her eyes.

"I knew how dangerous the case was... I should have never taken it."

"No one could have known the outcome you were just following your heart." Johanna looked at her smiling softly.  "What?"

"Nothing you've just grown up is all." Johanna said shaking her head.

"I wore your dress for my wedding.   My original dress got ruined.  So dad gave me yours." Kate said almost in tears. "I'm sorry mom."

"What's wrong sweetie?" Johanna asked reaching out for Kate's hand.

"I ruined your dress during the accident."

"Katie it was a dress, I don't care about what happened to it.  I just want you to be okay.  I hate seeing you so upset."

“This has been a crazy year to say the least.” Kate said with a sigh.  “But it was the first time in years that I was really happy.”  She said with a smile.

“I’m glad” Johanna said when the door opened.

“Beckett we’re needed at the precinct.” Ryan said making Kate turn.

“Did Espo find something?” She asked.

“Not sure, they think they may have found the house where your mom and Castle were being held.” Ryan said Beckett got up.  Everything seemed to happen in slowmotion, as she walked towards the door there was a loud bang and the sound of shattering glass.  Ryan pushed Beckett to the ground as she felt the searing pain.
