"Hey Leila," the voice stood. Defensively, Leila stood up quickly and faced the mysterious person.

She saw a boy she didn't recognize well. She may have seen him in the halls of the institute, but she wasn't that sure. His hair was blonde and just a little spiky; not like he had added gel, but a natural spikiness. He had a smirk on his face towards Leila who looked genuinely scared.

"H-hi." She stuttered as she tried to back away slightly. She gasped lightly when she bumped into something. Leila knew there wasn't a tree behind her because she had examined the part of the woods she was in so well. She turned to see another boy with jet black hair and dark clothes on. He too had a smirk on his face.

Leila backed to the part where she saw no one so the three formed a small triangle in the clearing.

"D-do you want something?" Leila said softly. The boys chuckled as they looked at Leila. She wanted to disappear and run. The outside was dangerous... but it was always so tempting to have something you barely had or got to do when it was always around you.

"Yeah, we wanted to ask you a question, we couldn't help but notice you and we can't wait until you started class." Said the boy with the blonde here.

"See, this is Jacob," he pointed to the other boy in black. "He's a telepath and can read everyone's mind except for Magneto and the Professor's. Everyone's."

Leila looked at Jacob for a moment before looking back at the blonde boy who was just speaking.

"So what does that have to do with me?" she asked cautiously, her heart rate speeding up from panic. She swallowed a lump as her eyes darted. They seemed to be ganging on her as if she had done something wrong or were from a different gang.

"He can't read your mind. You mind explaining that?"

"N-no... I can't. He can read minds? He's a psychic?" she asked, cocking her head slightly.

"Yeah. We don't like that he can't read your mind though. I mean, are you hiding something? It can't be your mind is completely blank-you're walking and talking and everything. He said it's like you're hiding your thoughts on purpose..." he continued, the smirk disappearing from his face.

"What?"

"You heard me..." the blonde said as he started taking steps towards her. "We've already had enough problems at this school with betrayal and I don't want anymore. What's your mutation anyway?" Leila's eyebrows furrowed as a look of confusion grew on his face.

"Mutation...? I don't-"

"What's your power? We all have them. What's yours? At least that won't be a secret." The boy in black finally spoke, his voice was soft and cracked a little, but he wasn't sad.

"I-I don't have-"

"Stop keeping secrets!" the boy in blonde yelled angrily as he threw his hand forward and a branch from a nearby tree hit Leila making her shout out in pain and fly back.

In the institute, Logan groaned as he got up. He didn't think he would even be able to fall asleep, but he was glad he did. For once, he actually felt a little rejuvenated. He stretched out on his ripped bed and sat up, nearly falling off. He stood up and looked down to see he had broken the bed frame as well...

"Damn... looks like I'll need an adamantium bed if this keeps up..." he grumbled as he kicked the pieces under the part of the bed that had still managed to stand.

He took a shower and got dressed in a grey t-shirt and blue jeans. He tucked his dog tags under his shirt. Logan liked to keep them near him. They let him know that he still had a past to remember even though he already remembered it up until the dog tags part.

'Better wake up Leila so she can get ready before everyone else', Logan thought to himself as he started to leave his room. He didn't think his nightmare would make everyone sleep in for the day; especially not the professor.

'The Professor', Logan thought again. He felt worried as he remembered the part of his dream where he saw the Professor dead in his office.

Skipping over Leila's room, he sped walked to his room to give a quick check. As quietly and silently as possible, he opened the door a crack and looked in to find the Professor sleeping soundly. After he closed the door, he breathed a sigh of relief and started going back to Leila's room.

He knocked softly as a warning he was there and opened the door, letting in light from the outside.

"Leila, c'mon get up. I have to show you to the teachers now..." he said softly. He stopped when he looked to the bed to find the sheet all messed up with no one in it. Logan checked the bathroom to see if she was there.

"Leila?" he said a little louder. There was no response and he started to get worried, though he didn't know why. He barely knew the girl and he had only spent time with her for about two days-three if you include the day he found her.

Logan stuck his head a little higher in the sky and sniffed, trying to find her scent. It was a bit stale, showing she had left some time ago.

He followed her scent until he ended up outside where it was much stronger, but the wind blew it around, making it harder to track. He sniffed slowly, walking slowly, finding himself inching towards the trees the school was surrounded by.

The scent grew stronger as he drew near. Logan knew that the trees were somewhat thick so it was trouble for the wind to get through, which would make finding Leila easier if she went in there.

His suspicions were confirmed when he heard a thud and small shout that sounded like a girl.

"Tell us!" he heard a boy voice.

Logan stopped sniffing, knowing he could find his way by listening now. When he finally found them, he saw a blonde boy he knew by the name of Thomas, one of the school bullies. The other boy he knew as Jacob stood there, staring at the action as if he were enjoying it.

"Hey!" he shouted after he saw Thomas, with a wave of his hand, engulf Leila in the dirt from the floor. Only her head was left free, but she was obviously uncomfortable.

"Logan!" the boys said in unison. They turned to face him and Thomas' hand had dropped, but the dirt still remained around Leila.

"What are you doing?! Let her go!" he growled.

"B-but she's hiding something! I know she is!" Jacob spoke, his voice suddenly becoming high.

"Hiding something? Like what?" Logan asked.

"We don't know... she's hiding it..." Thomas spoke, his voice less menacing from earlier.

"Let her go and stop this before you make me have to hurt you... What are you two doing up so early anyway?"

"We always wake up early..." Logan eyed them before going to Leila who was no longer covered in the dirt. She coughed and there were cuts and bruises on her body. "You were too rough! What the hell is wrong with you two?!"
