|Chapter Eleven: Deceptions Revealed |
After a Leila had finished hanging out with her new friends, she went back to Logan. She told him she realized how upset he looked and wanted to spend the rest of the day with him to make him feel better. At first Logan didn’t want to, he usually felt better alone, but something about her just made him agree.
The Professor and others realized, after a few more months that she wasn’t beginning to remember anything about who she was. All she told them was she was happy with the way things are now for her. Logan realized he had forgotten to ask her about the night when he went rogue and started attacking… Rogue. He planned on asking her today when he saw her, but the strange thing was he hadn’t seen her at all since he left her asleep in her room.
“Hey, Kitty,” he called when he saw her phase through a door. She stopped walking and looked to Logan with a smile. “Hey, look whose up and about now!” she exclaimed. Logan smiled at her bubbly attitude. “Yeah, I’ve been feeling way better now,” he chuckled.
“Have you seen Leila around anywhere?” he asked her.
“Yeah, she—“ she stopped and furrowed her eyebrows. “Actually, I haven’t seen Leila all day. And that’s weird because I usually see her every day,”
Logan sighed and nodded. “Thanks anyway, kid. Now get to class, I’ve held you long enough,” he didn’t wait for Kitty to respond as he walked past her. He had spent the whole day, going through every room to look for Leila and he hadn’t found her. Logan concluded she wasn’t even in the building after he was finished.
Classes had already ended and the kids were going to their room to do their homework and then go to bed. He started to feel worried, and there was this pit feeling deep in him that didn’t feel right. He’d been suppressing it every since Leila came, but now his mind seemed to be more opened to what it was.
It was his instincts. The one he vowed never to ignore.
‘Logan, come to my office now’, he heard a voice echo in his head. He didn’t hesitate to follow Xavier’s orders. Quickly, Logan sped walk down the halls, weaving through students, walking down the steps and finally ending up inside Xavier’s office.
“Charles, have you seen Leila?” he asked immediately, not bothering to wait and see what he needed him for. Xavier looked well rested, much better than how he looked when Logan was in his coma.
“No, I haven’t. That’s who I wanted to ask you about. Close the door, please. I have to speak with her about you,” Logan slowly closed the door and went to lean on a wall than sit down, and listened to Xavier.
“Is something wrong with her? Yesterday she looked like she was doing well, I didn’t think—“
“A face can be its own mask, Logan,”
“What?”
“I don’t know where it came from, but she sent me a message- rather a mental image or short video in a way,”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
Xavier opened his mouth to speak ready to explain, but then let out a short breath instead. “I’ll just show you. Come here,” Logan slowly walked over to Xavier, eyeing him as he did. The last time Xavier went through his mind to show him something, was when he was showing Logan the things he didn’t remember. It sparked an emotion in him that distracted him.
“When are you going to unlock my memories? I’d say we’re long overdue for that session, Charles,” Logan said as he stopped in front of him. Xavier looked up at Logan and sighed.
