"I leave and you all can not stop fighting for even 10 minutes" Five reappeared into the room, but the usual mood was no longer there.
Instead the room had become stagnant. Luther threw dirty looks from across the room, while Allison had a look of pure pity. Vanya was just utterly confused, so she quickly mumbled something about practice and ran out of the house. Then there was Klaus who despite everything still tried to comfort the poor girl who now laid on the floor in a fetal position not talking.
Athena was stuck in her head. She felt as if she was having an out of body experience. Almost as if she was watching what was going on with her and everyone else from the outside in. She didn't know what to think, she couldn't even feel Klaus' precense.
Klaus felt closer to the girl that now laid on the living room floor. She was going through all alone, nobody to understand her. Klaus knew what that felt like.
"I was in her position not that long ago"
Klaus remembered what he said to Diego that night he brought her here. Back then he knew nothing about her. Now that he knows this part he felt his statement couldn't be anymore true. Here was this girl that he met just because he was complaining about being sober and she had just done a line in the bathroom of the fine establishment. He remembered vividly talking to her about wanting to be where she was.
She said trust me you don't.
Little did she know Klaus knew her feelings way to well. He remembered his "voices", all the dead people that would haunt him and talk to him. He hated it how they just appeared, he had no control over them and that scared him. That was until Klaus started seeing Ben again, then with everything after Dave he realized that he had potential he just never got far enough to realize it. Instead of facing it head on he used drugs and alcohol to keep it all hushed, and his new best friend Athena was in the same boat.
Five looked between all of his siblings before looking at the girl that now laid crying on the ground. He watched as his brother Klaus sat there nervous, he wanted to help her, but was unsure how.
"Take her up to your room, I think she's still recovering from her night last night, so she just needs to get some rest and calm down. I've heard the withdraw process is the worst" Five nodded at his recovered brother before walking away into the other room.
Luther scoffed before running to catch up with his younger brother leaving Klaus, Allison, and Athena in the living room.
"Can you help me help her?" The sound of Klaus' voice crushed Allison's heart. She smiled with a nod as she walked over to help both her brother and new girl that was now gonna be a part of her life.
The both of them helped Athena up slowly, thankfully she did actually walk so they weren't just carrying dead weight, but she was shaky. Once reaching the room Klaus hurried off to grab extra pillows and blankets leaving his sister alone with Athena.
"Why did you never tell us?" Allison whispered to the girl. Allison wasn't expecting a response, but when she did her heart broke.
"I thought I was the only one out there for the longest time, plus it isn't like I actually know how to control anything I do." the girl stared straight ahead with almost no care for her surroundings.
Allison couldn't help but relate to the girl trembling in her arms. When she used her rumor on Claire she promised herself to never use it again. She realized she always relied on it, that she couldn't control when she would use it. In fact she found herself learning how to control not using it which from what she saw seemed to be her brother's friend's problem
Allison stepped in front of the girl putting both of her hands on her shoulders.
"You have us now, we can help you" Allison gave the girl a small smile which the girl returned. Allison nodded as she watched the girl sigh before standing up straighter.
Klaus had returned now with the blankets and pillows and helped her lay down. Athena found the gesture really sweet. She watched as Allison pulled the boy outside and they talked in private. A part of her worried that Allison was talking about her, but she let the worry fade away once she watched Klaus walk in a few moments later.
With a silly smirk and a hand gesture, the boy joined her in the bed. Usually Athena would never go for this kind of intimacy, but she actually liked it. She needed it. With a smile towards the boy she shook her head as he started pointing out all of the stuff in his room. He showed her the small Green Day poster in the corner, the picture of him and all his siblings. He even showed her the drawing Ben drew for him when they were younger that he kept in the nightstand next to his bed. He told her a bunch of his funny childhood stories. Some were stories he never told to anyone.
"Tell me more about yourself?" Klaus asked the girl next to him. He felt almost on top of the world when talking to Athena. He turned to her and proceeded to ask her what it was like for her to read someone's mind. So she responded the only way she could, with the truth.
Athena talked briefly about her life with Selene and the house she grew up in outside of the city. She expressed her love for bunnies, and how she loved the outdoors.
She went on to explain how she had no control. How she had this feeling that her head was gonna explode wherever she heard too many people. Even when it was one person's mind it caused her head to hurt. When she let her emotions get in control it was no longer just listening to others thoughts but telling them what to do, and she told him how much that scared her. It scared her so much to have no control. At this point the tears now ran down her face as she looked up at Klaus.
The best part of it all was that Klaus actually listened. He talked to her, they both went back and forth. And the fact that she did have these weird abilities were literally a second thought. They just talked and for once Athena felt normal
