Even vampires have mates...
Vladimir is the King of Vampires. His empire thrives under his rule, but he something is missing; his mate. Vlad has scoured the Earth for his beloved, only to come back to his kingdom empty handed. But when a certain sce...
I didn't sleep at all that night, my mind wandering to the methods I used in aiding that bastard's death. Was I ashamed? Perhaps. Did I regret it? Fuck no. I clenched my jaw to keep my fangs from lengthening; I had seen more than just that memory. I nuzzled my nose into her hair, calming myself again. I don't know how long I watched her, but eventually her eyelids fluttered open and her brilliant orbs met mine. "Hello," I smiled.
"Hi." She frowned and shifted her back and shoulders.
"What is it?"
"My wings," she huffed. "They feel confined again."
"Let them out," I almost pleaded. "I want to see them."
She stood and walked around to the front of the bed, taking off my shirt that she wore to sleep and baring her breasts to my eyes. She rolled her shoulders back and out came two magnificent, shimmering green wings. Their feathers glistened and looked so soft I wanted to reach out and take them in my hands. She made her way to my side of the bed, her wings folding behind her. "You can touch them, if you'd like." As she spoke, the one closest to me extended and she giggled. "They have a mind of their own sometimes." I let out a nervous chuckle and gulped, running my fingertips along the feather's surface. It was softer than I'd imagined!

"They're beautiful, Lucy."
"Thank you," she beamed. "In my culture, only mates get to touch wings; it's a very intimate thing. Our wings are a defining part of who we are, and if they were ever to be taken away, we would feel as though a part of us were missing. Not as big as the role of our mates, but one of a very close friend. We would live, but we would never be the same."
"Do all Succubi have wings?"
"Yes, but they are of leather while Celestial's are of feathers." I couldn't picture her with leathery wings as of a bat. She seems far too soft, to innocent for something so harsh to the touch; her wings suited her well. Her wings spread out all the way as she stretched her arms in the air. "It feels so good to have them out again. Last time I did..." she stopped and frowned. "That's how he knew," she whispered. "Because of my wings. I was going to fly to you since it would've been faster."
I stood and cupped her cheek, bringing her lips to mine and reveling in the warmth she brought to me. "We're together now," I whispered against her mouth, caressing her cheek. "That's all that we should be concerned with. Along with when we should hold the Queen's Ball."
She quirked a smile and sighed. "I suppose sometime soon."
"Whenever you desire. Nadia can make your wishes reality in no time."
"I want to do it before you travel to save those families."
"As you wish," I smiled, bringing her hand to my lips. "I won't ask any questions for now, but I want you to realize that this is your dream, Lucy. You can make it whatever you like."
