Chapter Six Vladimir Of Verish
Two weeks later, I awoke to the shaking of my shoulder in the middle of the night, scenting my sister I relaxed. I lifted my head from the side of the bed, checking Lucy to make sure she was still asleep. I turned my head and smiled in greeting to Violet, standing up, causing Lucy to stir and grip my hand tighter than before. "Don't go," she murmured in her sleep. I bent down and kissed her head, letting go of her small hand and resting it against the pillow.
I followed my sister out of the room and into the hallway. "How is she?" Violet asked.
"She's recovering steadily."
"That's good."
"And your mate?"
"Haggar spoke to you, huh?"
"He's my general, he tells me everything."
She smiled and shook her head. "Almost fully recovered."
"Do you know what the living arrangements will be?"
She sighed and shook her head. "I don't want to cause distress in the Coven, but I know that I'm needed here. Her pack would accept us, but...I just can't leave." I nodded and drew her close, hugging her. "There will always be a place for both of you here in the Coven, and if anyone has anything to say about it, they can speak with me." Violet smiled and pounded on me, hugging me tight.
"Thank you so much; she'll be glad to hear it."
I stroked her long, black hair; it wasn't as long as Lucy's, but it was still beautiful. We had mother's hair. "Do I get a name?"
"Helena. Her name is Helena."
"Well, as soon as Lucinda starts feeling better, perhaps you could bring her for a visit?"
"I'll speak with her about it, but I'm almost certain she won't refuse the opportunity." I nodded and, pressed myself a little closer to the door, stopping when I heard Violet's light laughter. "It hasn't even been five minutes and you're already antsy to get back to her."
"I just need to protect her. After everything she's been through, it surprises me how well she is mentally."
"We can't know that for certain, it's a test of time, Vladimir and hopefully she will pass."
I nodded and pressed my hand to the door knob. "We should get back to our mates. I'm sure Helena is antsy as well."
"I don't know. She's used to running free during the day, that's the in,y thing she'd be antsy about. She told me that she hasn't ran in two weeks and she feels as though she is in prison."
"As soon as the doctors clear her, take a run together."
