"Carol Kearns, thirty years old, is the fifty-third person who disappeared. Police still has no eviden..." I turned off the TV.
"Hey! I was watching that." Ann, my roommate, complained.
"Why? You already know what they're gonna say, Ann. It's always the same." I cleared my throat, imitating the news's guy. "Police still has no evidence of who did it or where the people are."
"You're not even worried or curious about what is happening?" She got up our old sofa.
"There is no reason for me to worry, why would someone go after a random student. If I was a prodigy or something like that, but I barely pass the year."
"Famous last words."
"Haha, how funny." I said sarcastically. "Lets go, we are late for univesity."
We left the apartment and went to the bus stop. It was sunny and hot, I couldn't stop sweating, my clothes were completely wet.
"It's so hot!" I complained.
"Yeah, when it's Summer it's extremelly hot, when it's Winter extremelly cold. This how our marvelous city work." She said ironically. "It's better you get used."
"I don't think that's possible."
The bus was late and we were waiting on foot under the sun. Suddenly, I felt some kind of bite in my neck. I looked around, not sure what I was trying to find.
"What are you searching?" My friend asked.
"It's just... Anything... It must have been my impression."
"Ok..."
Finally our ride had arrived and obviously it was crowded.
"Excuse me." Ann, like always, being kind, I just passed without saying anything.
There was no place to sit, we had to stand and stay tight between strangers.
"Hey, did you do the architecture's history homework?"
"Which architecture's history homework?!"
"That in wich you needed to do a timeline."
"Oh my God! Mr. Reynan is gonna kill me. Can I copy yours?"
"You won't do that on time. There is no way of you doing it here."
"You can get impressed with my ability."
"Yeah, desperate people can do impossible things."
She got her homework in her folder and right in time she was going to give to me, the bus shook, knocking my friend. I got the paper before anything could happen.
"Thank God your homework is safe!"
"Thanks for worrying about me, Maya. I'm fine. And just for you to know this's not my homework, that is." She pointed at a paper that was at the other side.
The bus shook again, this time knocking me. I took advantange of the situation to crawl on the ground, to try to catch up the timeline.
The passengers around kept looking me as if I was crazy, not that I could blame them, if I was in their place, I would think the same.
"Got it!" I shouted, finally reaching the paper.
I got up and fixed my clothes.
"See, everything is under control." I said.
"If under control means you almost died just to get the homework."
I gave her a little punch.
"You could show a little more confidence in me."
