"You asked what is this place, the answer is simple, it's another dimention that is equal the normal town, with one exception, there are no people, at least in the beginning."
In the room we were the was a table and two chairs, nothing more. Marian sit in one of these seats.
"Are you joking? Even zombies are more believable than another dimension!"
"I wish it was a joke..." Jim said.
"There was this scientists' group who were working into a portal to another reality just like ours, with one important difference, there would be no people. For most of the facitlity's employees they wanted to do that as a plan when the resources in this planet were done, but this wasn't the real purpose, it was a much more selfish one. These scientists wanted to create their own empire in this new world, little by little get slaves and built an army. After a lot of tests they achieved their goal, or at least part of it, this dimention isn't a copy of the whole planet, it is just this city, Nevercity."
"Hahahaha!" I started laughing more because of the nervosism than anything. "I give a 6/10 for the story."
"It's not a story. Before you got here, have you felt a bite?"
"Uhmm... Maybe, I'm not sure..." Really? A bite? I don't even remember what I ate for lunch before all that... Or if I ate something at all. What are they gonna ask next? How many steps did I walk?
"They have someone outside this place, this person is responsible to inject something in the targets, this is gonna teleport you here when you sleep besides working as a GPS."
"How do you know all that?"
"These man don't make a secret of it." Still seemed too much for a captive to know.
"So... We are what? This scientists slaves?"
"No, we are The Rebellion. We escaped from them and rescued a few prisioners, like I rescued you." This time it was Jim who answered.
"Niiiice." Ok, these people are insane.
Without think twice, I ran towards the door, the fastest I could, I had to find a way out this place, a way back home.
"Stop!" screamed the 'nevercitizens'.
I didn't even look back. There were a bunch of doors and hallways, that had any difference between one another, hopefully, someday I would eventually get out (said no one ever). I was just turning in random corridors. I could still hear the steps of my kidnappers/saviors/I don't know anymore.
I decided to hide and despite them, so I entered the first room I saw and closed the door.
Thinking well, it wasn't the best idea to just run away this way, even if I find the exit I still wouldn't know how to get back home and there was a little chance of what they were saying was true. Actually, there was no rational reason for me to do what I did, but there was anything of rational in this story about another dimention, so I can say we are even (before anyone thinks about that, I wasn't scaried, it was just... You know...).
"Hey." I paralyzed, I haven't noticed there was someone else in the room. "I'm not crazy, you have to trust me."
"Ahnn... Ook?" It was a boy who seemed to have my age. He was lying in a bed, conected with hospital machines, looking fixally to a point in the wall, where didn't had anything.
He was blonde and had brown eyes, his skin was pale and his hair was messy. The guy used a white hospital gown and covered with a sheet from his hip to his feet. There was a chair next to the bed, in its right side.
"Shhh. Don't say anything, I hiding, please."
"There must be someone in the world who believes me. I know what happened with the people who are disappearing."
"Ok, ok. I believe you, but be quiet."
"I give up." He didn't made any expressoin, actually, he would be completelly frozen, if it wasn't his mouth.
"Thanks for the money, but everyone that I talk with already gave me money, I don't need it. I need you to believe... Great, he just ignored me, like always." This last part the boy muttered.
I really got confused. What was him talking about? I didn't gave him any money.
Suddenly, the door openned and Jim entered the room. When the man saw me, he got really mad.
"Get. Out." It seems I hit him where it hurts... Wait. What if?
"This is what you do with the people who don't believe you, isn't it?"
"Get out!" he grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the room.
"What have you done to him?" I said trembling.
"I would never do something and this subject dies here! You'll never enter this room again, got that?"
"Ok." Then I wispered. "Grumpy."
"You found her." Marian came at our direction. "I know it's hard for you to understand, Maya. But you'll get used with this reality, eventually."
"How do you know my name?"
"The same way we knew where to find you. Jim infiltrated in one of the enemy's quarter and saw the machine that raffle the names of the next victims picking up your name and your adress."
"Let's present her properly to the others." suggest the ginger.
"Let's go."
I followed them, going far from the room, wondering what has happened to him and who he was...
