We went down the building, passing through the uncountables floors, at least for a tired and confused me. I was felting a turbillion of emotions, none that I could recognize. The rooms we went by were only a blur to me.
"You won't kill me?" I thought out loud something that was in my head since I got in this "town".
"Why would I do that?" he looked me with a confused face.
"Because you... kidnapped me?" It was more a question than a affirmation.
"What?! You got that all wrong, I just saved you from them."
"Why? I don't even know you."
"Just wait, she will explain everything." perfect, there is a she now.
We kept going, it seemed like time was frozen, the fact there wasn't any sound beside our breath just helped to create that effect, besides being really disturbing, sometimes I wanted to scream to break the silence.
Suddenly, he stopped and I bumped into him. He made a signal for me to be quiet.
The man looked around to certify if there wasn't anyone around.
"Let's go." the guy whispered.
He begun running towards the building's corridor in the other side and I just followed him. Before getting there, we passed between the entrance door and the elevator.
It was so strange, there was a slight mist in the outside and a disturbing silence.
"Are you waiting a invitation?"
Ok, now he's bothering me, only I can be sarcastic.
I had tottaly lost the sense of direction while we were walking in the building. I didn't understand why don't just leave. He entered a room and started to analyze an empty wall. He pressed his fingers in specific places.
Suddenly, the wall started to move, revealing a secret door. It was dark inside the passage, I couldn't see anything.
He turned on a lantern and entered in there.
"Be careful, I didn't have all this work just for you to die now." He reached out.
"Ha, ha, what a joke." I said uncomfortable with that phrase.
"It's not a joke." That didn't make me any better.
I still hadn't processed what was happening, I'll never say math is hard again (I'm lying, math will always be the most impossible thing).
I holded his arm with hesitation, I wasn't excited to follow him. I took a step slow and carefully. Right after I was completely inside that place, the door closed.
I tightened his hand with strenght by impulse. I couldn't recognize in what kind of place we were.
"Where are we?"
"On the elevator."
"What?! Why didn't we go inside it."
"It would call to much attention." He pointed to a vain.
"We need to get down, be careful."
I went slowly to edge and saw a rope stair that went to the ground (not that I could see it, that was what I hoped).
"Are you sure this is the way?"
"Yep." I think I have better chances with the zombies.
"Oookay. Fine. Ha ha."
I stretched my arms to reach the stairs and began getting off. It shaked a little, what scaried me.
"This is safe? It seems to be from another century."
"I don't know, that's why I made you go first... Of course it's safe."
Since I hadn't another choice, I just kept going down, with my heart trying to pull of my chest.
Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down, don't look down, don't look down! Oh my God, I looked down! It was so high and dark, my legs were shivering. I can't do this.
"Hey! We don't have all day."
I took a deep breath and got down foot by foot, slowly but surely. It took me a eternity to finally get in the ground, but it wasn't my fault. The stairs were still shaking, that guy was right after (or up) me with a flashlight, what explain why it was lighter than normal for a elevator's vain.
I was hearing voices coming from the other side of the wall, I never imagined that I would miss this sound.
"Great, now we're in a dead end! I'm not gonna climb up all over again."
The ginger pulled me back and took a step. He just opened the elevator's metal doors like they were nothing.
"Do you have super strenght?!"
"No. Are you from a asylum? These aren't really of metal."
In the other side, there were a few people staring us, or better, me. Beside being a little dark, this place was like the ground floor, full of halls.
"Jim! I see you were successful, like always." A woman with a black hair held in a bun and brown eyes. She was using a white coat. "Hey, I'm Dr. Maria. And you are..."
"I'm not saying anything without my lawyer." I looked away, I don't know why I said that, it just came in my head.
Jim tryed to contain his laugh, but couldn't help.
"Your lawyer?! Hahahahah!" The other people were laughing too.
"Gave the girl a credit, she is confused, right?"
"Yeeah."
"It's better we go to a more private place."
She went towards the halls with Jim, while I was stopped, just watching, not sure of what to do.
"Are you coming or not?" Asked the man.
"Oh." I ran after them.
We entered the labyrinth of doors and rooms. They didn't even have to tie me up for arrest, I would never be able to find the exit.
Besides the people that were in the "main room", there wasn't anyone.
After some minutes walking (actually it seemed like hours, my feet were killing me), we entered a office.
"So, you must have a lot of questions. Ask them and I'll try to answer them the best way I can."
"What is this place? Where I am? Who are they?"
"This obvioulsy isn't the city you know. They like to call it Nevercity. I think there are news about people who are missing, right?"
"Yeah. And if you're gonna say I'm one of them, spare the work, it's pretty obvious."
"You're right. But let's start from the beginning. You asked what is this place, the answer is simple, it's another dimention..."
