Today was the day. The day I meet with lawyers to discuss my inheritance.

"Kyra it seems that your father wrote in his will that if he should die that he would freeze his bank accounts until you turn eighteen or have no more living relatives"

"Are you sure? I knew my mom wasn't getting much but she was getting money from somewhere... I couldn't pay for EVERYTHING by myself, even though it kind of felt like it." I was confused at what this man had told me. There was no way my dad froze his accounts, it just made no sense.

"It also appears he had more money than he let on, you have nearly half a million dollars of inheritance." He looked at me almost like he was jealous. He had this annoying smirk and twinkling eyes, anyone could tell that he was a people person but the way he looked at me annoyed me. He gave me a look that almost said he wishes his parents had died so he could have their inheritance. It made me want to punch the smirk right off of his face.

I've never really been known as an aggressive person but the way he looked at me made me feel like he was mocking me.

"Well lucky me, my parents die and now I suddenly have half a million dollars." I start. Part of me thinks I shouldn't be difficult today but part of me doesn't care. I hate when people do this, when they act like I'm lucky that they died. I hated when people did it for my dad but now it's even worse. Now both of my parents are dead.

"Miss Vanderbilt that is most certainly not what I was insinuating. I just- I'm sorry if that's what you thought I meant." His stupid smirk goes away, now he looks flustered. I let my expression ease up after I notice him loosen his tie. I was going to say something back but I had already forgotten his name, whoops.

After my meeting with Smirky ended, I drove to a small, local cafe that was about five minutes away from my house. I walked in and surprisingly saw Jace. I waved and went to sit with him.

"Hey! I wasn't expecting to see you here." I said to Jace. His face brightened and he looked at me with a cute little twinkle in his eyes, behind his adorably dorky glasses.

"I know! I totally haven't seen you recently or anything." We both laughed after he said that and his dimples showed, it was adorable and I could tell he was really laughing. He can't get his dimples to show when it's fake.

We spent nearly three hours just talking, Jace showed me these old-timey style pictures that he took at an abandoned railroad control center right outside of town, it made me realize that I would have loved to live in the past. I would have loved to be in a cookie-cutter house with a husband coming back from the war, wearing adorable little dresses with red lips painting my face.
