A Secret Crush

Valentine's Day

I know this is late but here's a Valentine's Day special! (I went on a voltron strike after season 8 because I was so emotionally drained)

Keith roamed around the shopping mart as his eyes tediously scanned all of the items on the stalls and booths.

Lance was always a hard one to shop for. If he wanted something he already had it either because Keith spoiled him to much or Lance just went and got it himself. As Keith grazed his fingers over a satchel, his eyes caught on a necklace. The modest pendant decorated with a deep red stone and a wire encasing the crystal in the shape of a lion.

Keith walked up to the necklace and his fingers gingerly picked it up. Almost immediately, the salesman caught notice of his interest and he started buttering Keith up to buy it.

"It's a very pretty necklace isn't it? This is the perfect valentine's gift for that pretty girlfriend." The man said, wriggling his eyebrows.

"Husband... actually." Keith corrected casually as he inspected the necklace.

"The perfect necklace for that lucky man then. Modest, yet out there with the Ruby and the intricate wire lion. It's also a locket, so you can put a good picture of the two of you on your wedding day in there." The salesman explained the necklace further.

'Ruby is Lance's birthstone...' Keith thought as he opened the locket to reveal an empty space to put a picture.

"How much?" Keith asked, looking up at the man for the first time. He was an alien with four arms, dull purple skin, and almost black eyes.

The man smiled widely. "I'll sell it for $160."

Keith pondered and looked at the chain, remembering Lance's sensitivity for cheap metal. "What's the chain made of?" He questioned as his fingers rubbed the links.

"Sterling silver." The man replied confidently.

"Alright. Deal." Keith finally stated, pulling out his wallet.

"Cash, credit, or debit? And you'll need to sign this paper with an ID." The salesman said, snapping into business mode.

"I'll do cash...Earth money right?" Keith replies with a question. The man nods as Keith pulls out three fifties and a ten with his ID. He hands the man the money and card, and he puts the cash into the register, hands Keith the slip of paper, and scans the ID.

"You're Keith Kogane; McClain?" The man states with a gaped mouth. Keith quickly signed the slip and slid it back to the man.

"You look a different then a few months ago." The man stated. Keith chuckled as the man started wrapping the locket.

"Well my hair has grown out a bit. And it's not the shaggy, unkept mess like before." Keith said, grabbing at his ponytail which reached just above his mid back area.

"A bit?" The salesman laughed, "You're hair was just at your shoulders when I last remember. It wasn't even up then!"

"Well... Lance has this special shampoo stuff for hair and all that. He doesn't allow me to use my, 'cheap shit'" Keith used air quotes for that last statement, rolling his eyes. The salesman laughed and handed Keith a small paper bag with the necklace safely wrapped inside it.

"Well, thank you paladin for saving our universe. You look well." The salesman praised as Keith started walking off.

"Thank you!"
