Chapter 11 - Confrontations

Ragini watched with fearful eyes. Fear, not for herself. But more for Laksh, who was defending her from Udip, the guy who held a knife in hand. "Be careful Laksh."

"It's okay. Don't worry." Laksh was confident he could handle Udip on his own. However, he knew Ragini could be used as a leverage by Udip against him if she remained there. "Ragini, go from here to the hotel."

She looked at him as if he said something inane. "What?! And leave you here with him? No way!"

"Ragini, listen to me. I'll be fine. Trust me!" Laksh tried to make her understand the desperateness of the situation by looking into her eyes. "Please go. If not for yourself, go from here for me. I can't see you hurt. You mean too much to me."

Ragini felt her heart do flips on his confession. However, he confused her even further now. He was speaking entirely contradictory to what she had heard him say to his mother. 'What is this Laksh? Are you lying to me or did you lie to your mother? Could it be that all I heard was a misunderstanding? Or is it that you are protecting me just as a good friend would?' his voice broke her out of her thoughts.

"Ragini! Move it!" Laksh gave her a light push.

After a moment of conflict in her mind, she nodded. She realized she would only hold back Laksh if she remained there. Udip might use her as his weakness.

"Be safe Laksh." saying that, she moved away from him and took steps baclward, all the whole glaring at Udip. "Stinking excuse for a man! You attack someone with no weapon."

"Like I care what you have to say." Udip snorted.

"Beat him Laksh! I believe in you!" shouting one last time, she turned around and ran away.

Laksh smiled at the encouragement she provided. People might call him insane for smiling while being confronted with a man with a knife. However, all he could think about was the fact that Ragini no longer was giving him the silent treatment or ignoring him.

"You really think you can beat me Laksh? What a joke!" Udip spoke in arrogance.
