Our incredibly spacious study room is probably where we spend most of our time—practicing magic, hanging out, reading, or whatever it is we feel like doing.
The forest gray marble floors added a certain eeriness to the room. And the matte white lacquer desk sat perfectly near the enormous bookcase wall and on top of an ornate floral rug—an array of white and black couch chairs were spread out through the entirety of the room, along with other desk's and tables. Our walls were decorated with exquisite paintings all over the house, but we kept the more rare pieces in the study room.
There was even a TV in the second half of the room. Just in case we wanted to take a break from studying or practicing.
"Oh my god, this is literally impossible" Avian complained, we were all in the study room inside our house helping him with magic. A few days had went by and today was finally the day of the Carnival—where we could finally go hang out as a family again.
"Mastering your magic will continue to feel impossible if you are not focused" I replied in an authoritative manner. He just sighed in frustration and rolled his eyes. "Now focus in closely on that book and remember— you have to truly believe the book will come to you, because if you don't convince yourself... it will not work"
"Okay, here goes nothing" he began focusing on the spell-book located inside of the onyx black bookcase wall in the middle of the room, squinting his eyes. Finally, after concentrating long enough—the book flew out from the shelf and onto the table in front of him in a blur, his eyes grew wide with excitement.
"I did it!" He smiled and began jumping up and down like a literal toddler. I laughed awkwardly and looked at him with proud eyes.
"See, I told you it wasn't that hard" Calluna murmured, smiling just as hard as he was.
After taking a seat next to him, I opened the spell-book and flashed an awkward smile. "Great, now we can actually start" He grimaced, I'm pretty sure he noticed me trying to brush over the fact that it was only the warmup.
"Wait... did we not already start?" He replied dubiously, looking around in confusion.
"Awe poor Avian... that was barely even a warmup" Calluna teased, the slight grin on her face seemed to make Avian nervous because he was blushing.
"Wonderful, somebody cue the sniper... quickly" he put his head down in the book and sighed heavily.
"Trust me you'll be fine! Just believe in yourself and everything else will fall in place" Calluna assured him. They both stared at each other flirtatiously, something I picked up on immediately.
"Now open the book and tell me where you want to start" I said in a stern voice.
He began looking through the pages before coming to a stop. "Hmm, well I'd really like to learn how to do more things without using spells"
"Okay... this is actually pretty easy to master! The first step is essentially doing what you just did with the spell-book in the bookcase, concentrating and believing whatever it is you're trying to do" I began explaining "Though, It can be tricky and dangerous if your emotions are all over the place—like if your upset with someone and having really violent thoughts. You could potentially hurt them if you don't have full control over your powers."
"How though?"
"Well, if you're thinking about how bad you want to hurt someone, all it takes if for your mind to wonder and then next thing you know—you lose control and do something you regret... something you can't take back." He nodded to assure me he was following along. "Especially if they're human and cant counter it. That's why spells exist, they help keep the intention of our magic in check. When you act solely off of emotion, you could do the wrong thing if you don't have full control over your magic and mind."
