"You're the parasitic bitch that was trying to break in our house!" Enya hissed, stepping in front of me so she was now face to face with Zarya.
The thing about Enya is that she's super sweet and perky. . . . until she's not. Especially when it comes to us, shes similar to me in the way that shes a protector. She's typically at her strongest when protecting people she cares about. I think its why healing became one of her oddities, almost like she was destined for it.
"Yeah. . . . . im really sorry about that—can I come in and explain everything?" Zarya asked, her voice confident.
I remembered reading somewhere that vampires can only enter your home if you invite them in and I completely forgot to test the theory with Carrington and Julia because I grew to trust them—now was the time.
"No, you absolutely cannot!" I said smiling and backing away from the door to close it.
I shut the door swiftly and to our surprise, she was behind us. Julia was right—this girl was fast. Somehow darting in the house before I could even close it, and even worse without invitation.
"Wait how did you-"
"It's just a rumor — a common misconception. Why would you have to be invited in before entering a home—that's stupid. I could've rushed in anytime, so really I was being polite for once in my life. . . . Won't be doing that again." She said in a snarky tone, I could already tell she had a very strong personality—feisty and dare I say, bitchy. "And even if that was the case, why would I have been trying to break in while you weren't home? You're supposed to be the super smart, scary witch right?"
I immediately noticed the difference in how she spoke compared to Julia and Carrington. They spoke more old fashioned, quaint even. Whereas vampires like Jay and Zarya spoke more modern—as if they were actually trying to blend in.
"I guess you have a point there—what do you want exactly?" I questioned, glaring at her suspiciously. Anytime I spoke with a vampire I tried my best to avoid eye contact, in case they wanted to immerse me.
"To help you" She answered, her voice less harsh than before. I found it odd that a vampire—one clearly working with whoever wanted me dead—would want to help me of all witches.
"Why?"
"Listen, I don't know what you've been told—but vampires and witches are not mortal enemies. Before this vampire line ordeal, the fights between our kinds have always been case by case, never as a whole" she said, basically repeating what Jay had already explained to me. "You, my friend. . . . . Just so happen to be related to the person that cast the spell."
"SoI keep being reminded" I said, irritable, I was honestly so tired of hearing about this—tired of being blamed for something I wasn't even alive to do.
"Sorry, but we already found some vampire allies of our own so. . . . . Go fly chest first into a wooden stake and disappear" Enya added with a pleased look on her face.
"I know you don't trust me, and honestly you shouldn't. . . . But I'm different—I don't feed directly from humans, I didn't before the spell and I wont now" she promised. "I get blood from hospitals and pour it in a cup"
I winced because that sounded disgusting.
"That's good for you, but we have had a very long day, and quite frankly — I am so SICK of dealing with stupid vampires. So again, we are refusing your help, leech!" Enya wasn't letting up, I'd never seen her this vicious before.
I could sense Zarya getting progressively angrier, it was honestly shocking that she hadn't already lost it being that vampires have short, volatile tempers.
