I don't know if everything that just happened had something to do with it but anger washed over me and I propelled Kane into our house and at the living room wall. I held him there with my left arm and by extending my right arm I sent about about a dozen knives in his direction. Most of them stuck to the wall and surrounded him with one piercing his shoulder.
He groaned loudly. "Altiair what are you doing!" His voice cracked, a mix of desperation and fear. But I was beyond reason, spiraling out of control. Before I fully grasped what I was doing, I unleashed more magic, throwing him around like a rag doll. Each movement exhilarating and terrifying, I was no longer in charge.
I brought my hand forth and summoned him toward me. his throat met by the tight grip of my fingers wrapping around his throat. He struggled, his eyes wide with panic, and I sensed a flicker of his own magic trying to push me away. But it was pointless; he was too weak from the damage I had already done.
I was unfazed by him gasping for air and kicking his dangling feet. I could do it, kill him right now and be done with it.
"Altiair, we still need him, remember!" Calluna's voice pierced through my haze of fury, but it was background noise to me. I refused to waver. There was so much magic coursing through my body, desperate to be released. I had to let it out, even if it meant ending Kane's life.
I yanked the the knife from his shoulder, the metallic smell of blood filling the air. As I raised it to stab him again, something stopped me in my tracks. I turned to see Enya, her eyes focused, using her magic to counter mine.
"Altiair, listen to the sound of my voice, and relax" She urged, her tone calming yet firm. I could have easily overpowered her magic, but the warmth of her presence was enough to regain a semblance of control. Reluctantly, I released Kane from my grip.
"What was that for?" His voice was weak, etched with disbelief. I rolled my eyes, fighting the urge to attack him again.
"Kane, stop the act, I know you killed my parents!" I snapped. "As much as I want to rip you apart right now, I can't... not yet at least."
His eyes widened, a mix of fear and shock. "So you've spoken to them somehow. . . . Altiair, let me explain—"
"I don't want to hear 'I'm sorry', and I certainly don't want an explanation." I cut him off, my gaze sharp. "What you need to do is listen very closely" I leaned in, my voice low but unyielding. "In a moment, I'm going to ask you a series of questions. You are to answer them honestly, and if I or Calluna sense even an ounce of dishonesty, I'm going to finish what I started"
I had never felt this kind of rage before, it washed over like a tidal wave. I didn't even know I was capable of such anger. Between Ezekiel being taken and everything Kane had done to make my life a living hell; I was fresh out of grace to give. As much as it frightened me, I was ready to kill him and anyone else who stood in our way at this point. I was changing, I knew it would happen, I just didn't think it'd be this soon.
On the other hand, it wasn't as if I would be killing some innocent person, these were evil vampires and witches, killers themselves.
"I'd choose what you say next very wisely." Rauz warned. "I've never seen her this upset"
Kane stood there in silence, paralyzed by fear, too afraid to even speak.
I stepped closer, locking my gaze onto him with ferocity. "See, we just ran into Celine Wick—you know, that ancestor of mine who created the very spell you've been begging me to perform. Apparently she's been alive all this time, thanks to an anti- aging spell"
