I felt myself falling in and out of consciousness, flickers of light going in and out over time. I still felt weaker than usual—definitely too weak to even attempt to get us out. I was tied down to a chair with my bands bound tightly behind my back, and I'm pretty sure the coarse, scratchy rope was spelled to stop me from using magic.

The only thing I knew for sure was that I had no clue where I was, but it seemed to be some kind of dimly lit baseball—dingy and dull. The air was thick with dampness and I would hear the occasional drip of water from a leaky pipe of some kind. It had to be the following day because it was now daytime.

Once I was able to see clearly again, I scanned the room and first saw the rough concrete wall, stained with years of disrepair. And then I saw Ezekiel tied up next to me, looking just as miserable as I was—feeble and also bound by ropes, he wasnt visably hurt though—just drenched in sweat.

"Ezekiel, are you okay?" I whispered. He was awake but clearly still in shock. I felt so bad that he was in this situation, and all because of me.

"I'm okay... whats going on, where are we?" He asked, confused.

"I have no clue but as I figure out how to use my powers again, I'm gonna get us out of here" I assured him, his eyes grew wide and he looked at me as if I was crazy.

"Magic. . . . . Did you hit your head or something? That doesn't make any sense!"

I stared at him anxiously. "I know it doesn't, but its the truth. Im so sorry that I got you into this mess, I never planned for you to find out about all of this so early"

He smiled, which I found odd given the unfortunate predicament we were in.

"Why are you smiling?" I asked, perplexed.

"Because I don't know what the hell is going on but the one thing I do know is that we're probably going to die in here. I should be sad, but oddly enough, I'm not. I'm just happy I met you before it happened, you're the first person I've met in years that actually understands me, even more, we've been through similar things." I smiled back while staring into his eyes. Despite everything he just found out, and whether he believed it or not, he still accepted me for who I was.

"We're not going to die okay? We will have plenty more time to get to know each other. I didn't even want to go on this date today, but I ended up having a great time. Truth is, your the only guy I've been able to connect with since he died. And I'll be damned if that ends today!"

The door that connects to the basement staircase shot open."I'm not so sure about that, witch" Someone slowly made their way down the stairs and I soon realized it was the man that knocked me out. He had a sinister disposition about him, and a very sarcastic nature.

"So you're the vampire that's supposedly hunting me" I said nonchalantly, trying to not sound as terrified as I actually was.

"Lucky for you, I'm not or you'd be dead, I'm just a really close. . . . . friend of his. You'll meet him in due time though" he explained exuberantly. "He likes to make an entrance and show up when you least expect it. I mean between me and you the guy is kind of a psychopath, so he probably has some big drawn out plan that'll ultimately end with you and your friends dying."

"Of course he's a psychopath, most vampires are right? I hissed

He was in front of me in a flash, his hands now tightly gripping my neck.

"Watch how you speak about my kind before I rip your throat out and feed it to your friend over there, witch" He let go of me and I was gasping for air with wide eyes. "I mean we're not all that bad, you are the same person who went running to find vampire allies to help you kill us right?"
