My mind was exploring its surroundings as if I was a newborn baby. The air was new, the grass was new- it was fresh with life I have never felt before. A buzz was filling my body from all around me. The feeling of billions of energy tendrils grew from within me, buzzing to life as they reached around me. I was feeling the people, the electricity around me on a cellular level.
My eyes were closed as I calmed myself, pulling my energy back into myself, afraid of pushing myself too hard too quickly. My mind was ablaze with curiosity about what had happened just now, why were my senses so different.
The last words the child spoke to me were replayed within my mind. "Now save your Queen". I fought my instinct to keep my eyes closed- the feelings around me so calming., so I flicked my gaze downward, finally looking towards Kie'a. Her hair was white as ice as were her eyebrows and eye lashes, like her father. Such a contrast to the dark black of the body suit- she looked- different than any women I have ever seen.
Zed delicately held her in his arms as he stood to lay her on the table,
My hand seemed to reach out to her on instinct. My mouth forming the words 'wait', but my brain holding it inside of me. I had to remind myself she was safe in Zeds arms. He was taking her to the robot, V, who was explaining how to get her onto the hovering bed, and down to the med bay.
My heart galloped as it hit me- I would have to protect her; it was clear as day. She was indeed my queen. Why? I momentarily thought to myself. I don't know this women. Why do I care about her?
Her limp body was out of her suit and now in zeds arms as he seemed to be the only one of us unfazed by her. Vera was next to her, both hands on Kie'a's face as she was blowing in her face. What they hell was that? Lex was unfazed by this thing Vera was doing. But it clicked as my mind noticed her suit was recording Kie'a's heartbeat increasing from whatever Vera was doing.
It occurred to me that Vera had some sort of substance in her breath that was doing this. Was that natural?
As I leaned in to get a closer look, Kie'a's whole body jolted, her hands going out, gripping the rails the second they touched. We all flinched back as she took a large inhale of breath. Despite being unconscious, it was easy to tell she was scared.
As this was happening, Zeds whole body turned to me, his gaze heavy with question as his mouth moved- talking to me, but no sounds hit my eats. My gaze met his question. My eyes flickered to the way his mouth moved again. I squinted, trying to get my ears to adjust to whatever was said. Startles, I turn to see Hendrix has turned me to face them. He looked to me, his mouth moving but once more all I could hear was the sound of Kie'a's heartbeat beating in her suit. Both Zed and Hendrix came forward then, side by side. They started to wave their hands before me, snapping by my ears, I realized they seemed worried for me, not Kie'a. Why would they be worried about me?
