When we ended the meeting with Kie'a and the rest of the UN, I was honestly very excited. How could I not be excited, now I wasn't that much of an outcast anymore, there were other aliens now. The idea of other lifeforms blew me away. For years Martians have been shunned. But with a new species on its way to earth, maybe now I won't be such an outcasted member of society.

My mind raced thinking of the consequences such a presence might bring. More aliens, a different species only truly brought another species to fight over the ever-thinning livable regions of earth. Would I even get along with another alien? My excitement began to diminish as the risk of further alienation took over my thoughts.

Hendrix too was thinking hard, and I knew his silence was never one from shyness- but his always racing mind. He was always the type to absorb all knowledge before acting, but as he stood there- weight shifting from foot to foot, a toothy grin broke across his face as he looked my way. "Would you like to go running with me? I need to clear my head." He asked, I was halted, my gaze fleeting to his smile and the way his feral, longer teeth were on display. I had to stop my train of thought as my heart and mind were in a malicious battle over what to think of, the run or his smile.

Excitement filled me as I focused on his offer. It had been over two years since he offered to run with me. "Please!" I practically begged him as I pulled his shirt to me, making him look to me. "Slowest makes lunch?" I asked, using our old wager from all those years ago."You were always the best challenge." Hendrix winked, causing my whole body to implode inside silently as he pulled his hand off my head. I felt my flush growing and I brought my head to look at Malakai, mortified he's witnessing my failed attempt to hide my feelings.

But what shocked me was Malakai was smiling, softly towards Hendrix, his eyes briefly sweeping over me lightly as his hand found my head as well, but unlike Hendrix, he fixed my hair. This is how it's always been when we were children, Hendrix always messed up my hair, and Malakai fixed it. But I never once complained, it was an easy way to get to touch them both. Before I realized what I was doing I was smiling up to Malakai with emotions I so desperately wanted to scream tot them both.

His eyes caught mine and I swore for a millisecond his body froze as both my hands grabbed his wrist in my grasp. "Join us?" I asked softly. His body deflated.

"Maybe another time ok, little one? Someone has to get things moving forward- I'm not nearly as fast as either of you." He shocked us both by sliding his hand down my face to my cheek as he squeezed my face lightly in his grasp, making me flush.

He turns back to the computer screen, not even looking at me while he blows us off. But my heart still skips a beat. He's never called me little one before, the words making it impossible to understand the effect it had on me. I glance to see Hendrix smirking at me lightly as I adjust my pants. I flush even more having been caught.

"L-lets go Hendrix." I mumble, fleeing the small, cramped room I'm in. I tried not to let him get to me, I don't know why he was blowing me off like this.
