It was a familiar sight, the slender frame making their way up the winding path.
But today instead of skipping, the girl rushed, urgency portrayed in every hurried step.
The wind chilled her bones, yet she pressed on.
The long grass, normally dotted with wildflowers and busy wildlife, was barren, winter had overtaken each blade.
Haphazardly jumping over the rocks and up the mountain, yet careful to stay on the path, the girl carried on.

Until finally, she reached it.

The old, twisted trees towered over her, twinkling in the starlight.
Gentle lapping of waves could be heard below, mixing with the quiet rustle of leaves as the wind swept through once again.
The girl however, took no notice.
She crumpled on the softened ground and looked to the heavens.
Tears were streaming down her face.

"Please." She whispered, shivering.
"Please, I'm scared...He's not okay.
I don't know if he's gonna make it...I can't lose him...Please."

The girl had been telling the stars about her love for years, eagerly climbing up each night to visit with them.
Every little moment, every happy memory, all were told joyfully to the celestial listeners.

"He should have never gotten in that car...I should have tried harder...All it would have taken was a few more seconds..."
her voice was broke.
Her shoulders racked with sobs.

She couldn't take it.

She lay on the ground, head buried in her arms, knees pulled up to her chest.

Crying out to the only comfort she's ever known.
