The dark gray 2005 Volkswagen Phaeton drove off from Alex's home, Alex tumbled his fingers as he sat in the backseat with Melvin.
"Dude, today is going to be so awesome! We're going to kick Zak's butt in no time!" Melvin grinned.
Alex laughed a little, "I sure hope so, dude. Zak is pretty tough to beat."
Alex was less confident than Melvin was, Zak had out shined them greatly. He knew that even if they ended up winning, Zak would come back with a punch, maybe literally if he really cared about his status at school as the Coolmath King.
"What do I always say?" Melvin asked Alex, hoping he would answer correctly.
"That you gotta always be one step ahead to rise to the top," Alex responded a little sarcastically.
"Of course, dude!" Melvin held up his fist, Alex wasn't going to leave him hanging.
"Yeah! Brofist!" Melvin smiled at Alex.
Shortly after the epic Brofist, they finally arrived at Melvin's house. Melvin's place was about two stories tall and quite a lovely house. His parents were very proud of it, making sure to clean every time someone comes over, although it's always spotless.
Melvin's mom answered the door, "Come on in boys!"
Behind the front door near the wall, Alex, Melvin, and Melvin's father placed their shoes on a small mat. In their house, they never want to risk dirt or mud getting tracked inside, so taking off their shoes was a must if they didn't what to tick off Melvin's mother.
"It's been awhile, Alex. How are you and your mother doing?" Melvin's mother asked.
"We're doing okay, Mrs. Smith. Thank you for asking," Alex answered politely.
"You're quite welcome," Mrs. Smith smiled. She always wished that Melvin would be as polite as Alex is.
"Alex, Come on!" Melvin was midway on the stairs, ushering Alex to come into his room.
"Oh, okay," Alex looked back at Mr. and Mrs. Smith, then ran along with Melvin.
Melvin shut the door to his room, on the outside of the door was a sign that says, "True Gaming in Progress, Do Not Disturb."
Alex sat on Melvin's bed and started pulling out things such as his PS3 controller. Melvin's room in contrast to the rest of the house, was very messy. Melvin's clothes were scattered around his room, game cases were in every other place other than the shelf, and there was various open but empty soda cans over flowing the trashcan and spreading to his table. Despite this, it really didn't bother Alex, instead, it actually somewhat brought him peace. It reminded him that he was next to Melvin, and how close they are.
"Uh, you good?" Melvin asked.
Alex shook his head, snapping out of is thoughts, "Uh, yeah, yeah. I'm okay. Just tired."
"Welp, you ready to play some Run 2?" Melvin smiled.
It was now, or never. Alex had a feeling that they must beat Zak.
"Yes, Let's do it," said Alex.
