After dance practice you practically ran back to your dorm. You took a quick shower and stared at the clothes hanging in your closet, trying to decide what you should wear. After weighing a few different options, you decided on jeans and a light sweater. You sent Jungkook a text, like he asked you to, and waited for his reply. It came within seconds.
Y/N: Hi! I'm ready when you are.
Jungkook: Meet me back at the field. Bring an appetite.
Y/N: WIll do! Leaving now see you in a few.You spritzed a bit of perfume into your hair before running your fingers through it one last time as you gave yourself an approving nod in the mirror. You walked the 4 blocks to the park a bit quicker than you had the night before.
The sun had just slipped under the horizon, bathing the clouds in hues of pink, purple and orange, when you made it to the field. You saw Jungkook sitting on a large blaket, with his back to you, looking at the same glowing sky.
"I'm not sure what's prettier out here," you said as you walked closer "the sunsets or the stars."
"Y/N! You're here!" Jungkook smiled as he turned and motioned for you to have a seat. That's when you noticed the blanket was covered with different containers full of food, and a small chest filled with ice and bottles of water and soju. "I hope you're hungry."
"Kookie!" You chuckled, seeing all the different containers "How much food did you make?"
"I didn't make any of it, Jin hyung did." he smiled as he began to open each one "I didn't think to ask you what you liked, and I knew you were practicing all afternoon and I didn't want to bother you, so Jin hyung made us something spicy, something salty, something meaty, something vegan, and then something sweet for dessert.""Dessert?" you perked up
"Mochi balls." he answered as he pulled the lid back from the last container and handed you a set of chopsticks "Want one?"
"Yesssss." you whispered as you quickly picked one up.
Jungkook laughed a bit and picked up a ball of his own. "A toast," he said holding his mochi ball up, you did the same "to eating dessert first."
"To eating dessert first." you repeated as the two of you clinked your chopsticks together and simultaneously bit into the sweet confections.
The two of you ate and talked about your days. He told you about his photo shoot and about a few ideas being thrown around for their next concept. You told him about your dance practice and asked for advice on how to speed up your footwork. You talked about the plan to go bowling after the MAMAs and about how much you both enjoyed being in the 97'er friend group. Then, as the conversation was falling into a lull, Jungkook looked skyward.
"They're back" he said pointing at the stars that had now become visible in the dark sky.
"I told you they would be" You said as you pulled a bottle of soju from the ice chest looking at it intently. Jungkook took it from your hand and opened it for you. You thanked him and took a huge swallow and smiled as you pulled the bottle away from your lips. "That's so good! I haven't had a drink since I came to Seoul."
"None? At all? What about on your 21st birthday? Everybody drinks on their 21st birthday." he asked, truly bewildered.
"I spent my birthday face-timing with my parents and organizing pictures in my phone." you admitted.
"That's really..." he paused, trying to find the words he wanted to say.
"Sad?" you finished for him as you laughed a bit.
"Unfortunate." he corrected you. "Everybody deserves to have their birthday celebrated."
"Maybe I'll get to do something next year." you said as you turned up the bottle in your hand "Let's talk about something more exciting than my weirdly boring birthday. " you joked, making Jungkook laugh.
