After your little conversation, the first bell rang.
Eventually the second followed suit.
It took a bit of time, waiting in awkward silence with Endre, before in walked Miss Bell, glowing smile and all.
Role call came and passed, and once again you only stayed clear minded long enough to hear your own. Afterwards, Miss Bell gave us our free time for home room, students immediately returning to their mindless amble.
Miss Bell did her teacher stuff as always. Correcting papers is what it looked like she was doing, but after a quick few glances, at her, the paper she was holding was too small to be any sort of homework.
Abruptly, she stood, making her way over to your desk. You were prepared for a scolding of some sort, for something you'd forgotten you'd done, but she walked past you, sliding the paper she was holding onto Endre's side of the desk.
"I'm sure you know what to do with these." was all she said, before walking calmly back to her desk.
He sighed, picking up the papers and looking them over with a ridged posture. With a quick movement he nudged your side with his elbow, "Oh hey, uh could you sign these papers by any chance?"
He slid them across the table to you.
Picking them up, you weren't quite sure what you were expecting. At first glance they looked like some sort of progress report. But after reading the first couple lines, it was surprisingly about Endre's behavioral problems. More so with the urge to brutally beat down any kid that looks him in the eye.
Reading farther, you squinted at the line above where you were supposed to sign.
"If you, the victim of this behavior, find that all of your body is functioning, and you hold no ill emotions toward the student in question, please sign here."
Seemed strange- and the momentary thought about the what if's rose to your mind. 'Did you forgive him?' 'Did he befriend you in order to get you to sign this?'
You pushed passed your negative thoughts, and instead focused on finding a pen. You'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
Pulling out your trusty ballpoint, you signed your name as neat as possible onto the paper.
"Aaaaand- there ya go!" You slide the paper back to Endre, watching as he almost seemed hesitant to grab the papers.
"... Thank..." he paused looking from the papers you slid, then to your pen. His tone was utterly surprised, "You..."
You again wished you could look at his face as he spoke, "Your the first person to ever sign these types of papers for me." He made a humming noise, "Except for my dad, he always makes sure to sign these."
You rose an eyebrow, "So if I'm picking up what you and this paper are putting down- this paper is going to save you a week of detention?"
He hummed unsure, "Yeah."
"Glad I signed them then."
Endre went totally silent, papers in hand, staring at them with a strange look. You couldn't see the glances he sent you, utterly flabbergasted as to why you actually signed them. He beat you up- who in the world would want to forgive the person who beat you up.
"Thank you. Again. It really means a lot." Endre opened his binder, slipping them into a folder before zipping it back up again. His voice still sounded shook, the whisper of his tone speaking an untold gratefulness.
"Anytime, bro. Anytime." Was all you said back, head still facing the table to avoid his eyes.
The both of us went silent. Endre shuffling his feet around in a rather nervous way, and you still staring at your table.
"You-" "Could-"
You both froze, interrupting each other.
"Please-" "You-" "after-" "first."- "you."
Clamping your mouth shut, you felt an enormously awkward feeling, having interrupted him twice.
He cleared his throat with a hefty 'ahem,' before making a gesture with his hand, "After you."
Pursing your lips, you nervously glanced at his hand, "Alright." Threading your fingers together you continued, "I was wondering if I could get your number? We're friends, so I thought it'd be nice to hang with each other."
Endre paused once again, staring at you with his piercing gaze, "Uh- yeah. Sure. I was actually going to ask the same thing. Haha!"
His laugh made you give off a small laugh yourself, chuckling about the coincidence of it all. He sounded really happy, which surprised you really.
After the both of you finished your short laugh, he sneakily pulled his phone from his pocket and handed it to you. You did the same, only with the added step of waiting for it to turn on.
"Sorry, I turn mine off before school." You apologized as you handed it to him.
"No worries, I'm a patient person."
Pulling up his contacts, you glanced over the others.
Mom, dad, big boss, school phone, and fruit puffs.
Strange. Though they did give you a chuckle.
Typing in your number, you saved it simply as your name, before handing it back to him. Endre did the same, giving your phone to you with a delicate touch.
Out of curiosity, you looked what he saved his contact name to, chuckling at it.
'Tall Boi Next Door'
Glancing over at Endre with a smile, you saw him editing the name you placed in his phone, typing something in before saving it and putting his phone away.
"Suspicious-" You said, smirking and wondering what he could have named you.
"Hmm... not particularly. Or not that I think it is." He hummed in thought.
"Haha- Joke, man, joke."
"Oh. Hah- sorry."
Waving a hand at him to ease his sorry, you simply stared at the table, glancing up to look at the teacher at her desk.
Time flies pretty fast.
The bell was about to ring for out next class.
