Shancai stopped dead in her tracks as she saw Xiaozi and Daoming Si standing in front of each other on the street. Her grip on the box of cake tightened as she watched Xiaozi step towards Daoming Si. "You still have me," she said as she hugged him, and Shancai nearly dropped the cake. She had changed her mind about breaking up with him, and had wanted to surprise him with a cake-- a reminder of that day on the steps when Li Zhen's cake flew into the air and hit Si in the face. Shancai thought it would be a nice gesture to show how far they had come since then. But now, she was starting to see red. What was he doing with her? Why was he letting her hug him-- wait, she was hugging him. Shancai took a deep breath and noted that Si was standing as stiff as a board. She watched as Si gently took Xiaozi's arms and pushed her away from him.
That single gesture was all Shancai needed to reassure her that nothing had changed. Si still loved her and wouldn't be with any other girl. It was time to tell him that her feelings hadn't changed for him too. "Daoming Si!" she called as she broke into a run. "Shancai!" she thought she heard Lei's voice call from a distance, but she paid him no mind as she was focused on getting to Si. Xiaozi's eyes widened at the sight of Shancai running towards them, and the world seemed to slow down as Si turned around slowly to look at her. Suddenly, Shancai tripped and the box of cake flew out of her hands. Her jaw dropped as she watched the cake fly through the air and Xiaozi looked up just in time for the cake to hit her smack on the face. She braced herself for the impact of the pavement, but instead felt a strong pair of arms catch her. "Shancai," her heart thundered at the sound of his voice. "What--" "Be with me, Daoming Si," she tilted her head up and looked him in the eye. He held her in his arms and they stood frozen that way, staring into each other's eyes.
"That looks delicious." They turned to see Lei helping Xiaozi get up. She was covered in cake, and he said to her, "I can clean you up." Si and Shancai looked at Lei, who seemed to have a strange look in his eyes as he looked at Xiaozi. They looked at Xiaozi who, despite being covered in cake, seemed to be blushing and also had a strange look in her eyes. They watched as Lei placed his hand on the small of Xiaozi's back and guided her into the hotel across the street.
"Be with me," Shancai said again, and Si looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry I broke up with you. I got scared and--" Si put a finger on her lips to shush her. "I'm sorry I didn't fight for you right away. I was scared too," he said, his eyes filled with regret. "But I'm done being scared. It's time for us to be together. I love you, Shancai," he said, and she smiled up at him. "I love you, Daoming Si." His eyes widened at her. "You do??" he asked as if he couldn't believe what he'd just heard. She nodded, "Of course I do! I wouldn't be here now if I didn't love you!" He let out a whoop of joy and he picked her up, swinging her around. She laughed at his excitement and said, "Daoming Si! Put me down!" He set her down gently then leaned in to kiss her. She kissed him back with all the love she felt in her heart, and when they finally pulled away, she knew they would never be apart. "Let me just make a few calls," he said, taking out his phone with one hand and grabbing her hand with the other. He spoke on the phone as they made their way to his car nearby.
Si and Shancai got into the car and sped down the highway. "Take it all in, you won't be seeing this for a while," Si said as he drove and Shancai watched the Shanghai cityscape rush by. They arrived at the airport quickly, where they were met by Ximen and Meizuo. "Xiaoyou packed all your things, and your parents have been relocated to a safe place. My bodyguards will keep an eye on them," Ximen said as he pushed Shancai's luggage into her hands. Meizuo stepped towards Si and handed him an envelope. "Your tickets are in there, together with your new passports," he said, and Si took out the passports and opened them. He smiled, "Looks like I'm Dylan Wang now." He gave Shancai her passport, "And you are Shen Yue." Shancai smiled up at him, "I like that name. Dylan... DiDi!" The way she said his new name made him smile and he teased, "Let's go, YueYue! We don't want to miss our flight."
They bid their friends goodbye and stepped into the airport. The next few hours went by like a blur and before they knew it, Si and Shancai were sitting inside the plane, waiting for take-off. "Where are we going again?" she asked Si. "Who cares? All that matters is I'm finally with you," Si replied with a smile. The plane began its ascent, so Si and Shancai fastened their seat belts and leaned back. They were finally at peace, and would live happily ever after.
