Episode 30 (again)

"I'm pursuing Shancai." Daoming Si blinked at Lei. He couldn't have possibly said that. Why would he? Lei knew how important Shancai was to him. "I want to compete with you in pursuing Shancai." Si looked into Lei's eyes and his blood ran cold when he saw that Lei looked dead serious. His heart almost stopped when he remembered how it felt to see Lei kissing Shancai on the beach, and how broken he felt when he flew to London just to get away from them both. If Lei was serious about this, he could lose Shancai forever.

Si stood up to his full height and looked Lei in the eye. "No," he declared, "There is no competition because I love Shancai and she loves me. You have no right to pursue her." He felt his temperature rise when Lei laughed. How dare he laugh?? "But Shancai broke up with you, didn't she? I'd say she's free to choose whoever she wants," Lei said, "So let's make her choose: you or me?" Si shook his head vehemently. "I won't let you get in between us! I love her! I need to be with her! If I have to forget about our friendship just to fight for her, I'll do it!" Lei raised an eyebrow at him, "Really? You would do that?" Si squared his jaw, "I'll fight anyone who gets between us!" "Even your mother?" Si stopped and stared at Lei. Suddenly it all became very clear. He needed to fight for Shancai, even if it meant defying everything his mother wanted for his life. And he needed to prove it. He nodded seriously. "Yes. Even my mother," he said, "I'm willing to fight anyone. I love Shancai that much."

Lei looked at him very carefully, but Si wouldn't be intimidated. He stood tall and met Lei's gaze, and was surprised when Lei smiled. "You can come out now," Lei called, and Si's jaw dropped when he saw Shancai emerge from the shadows. She had tears in her eyes, but she was smiling. Si ran towards her and pulled her into his arms, hugging her so tight that he felt her patting his back, "Can't. Breathe," she gasped, and he relaxed his hold on her. "I love you," he said, tears springing into his eyes as he realized how close he had come to losing her. "I love you too," she said softly, wrapping her arms around his waist. He dipped his head down to kiss her, and his heart felt like singing when he felt her kissing him back. After a while, Lei cleared his throat and they finally pulled away. "You both need to hurry," Lei said, "Don't worry about your mom, I'll take care of her." A piece of metal seemed to glisten from inside Lei's coat, but Si and Shancai thought it must be the light playing tricks on their eyes. "There's no time to lose," Si said, reaching for Shancai's hand. She nodded, and together they left the rooftop.

Si and Shancai got into the car and sped down the highway. "Take it all in, you won't be seeing this for a while," Si said as he drove and Shancai watched the Shanghai cityscape rush by. They arrived at the airport quickly, where they were met by Ximen and Meizuo. "Xiaoyou packed all your things, and your parents have been relocated to a safe place. My bodyguards will keep an eye on them," Ximen said as he pushed Shancai's luggage into her hands. Meizuo stepped towards Si and handed him an envelope. "Your tickets are in there, together with your new passports," he said, and Si took out the passports and opened them. He smiled, "Looks like I'm Dylan Wang now." He gave Shancai her passport, "And you are Shen Yue." Shancai smiled up at him, "I like that name. Dylan... DiDi!" The way she said his new name made him smile and he teased, "Let's go, YueYue! We don't want to miss our flight."

They bid their friends goodbye and stepped into the airport. The next few hours went by like a blur and before they knew it, Si and Shancai were sitting inside the plane, waiting for take-off. "Where are we going again?" she asked Si. "Who cares? All that matters is I'm finally with you," Si replied with a smile. The plane began its ascent, so Si and Shancai fastened their seat belts and leaned back. They were finally at peace, and would live happily ever after.
