If you know what Hogwarts is, you are likely familiar with the school's reputation. "The safest place in the world," they called it. The school was so secretive, hidden on an island in Scotland, far away from muggles and wizards that wished them harm. The school was always safe, having some of the bravest, wisest profferers in the entire wizarding world looking over the students' safety. That was before Persephone arrived. For wherever she goes, death follows.

Hogwarts was bustling with life on the 1st of September. It was the first day of school. For some, it was their first time in the halls. Nervous and excited, they stood outside of the Great Hall, awaiting Sorting. For others, they had been there before and were conversing with one another about their summer holiday. Persephone Bell was one of those students, returning for her sixth year at Hogwarts. The young blonde sat at the Slytherin table in silence, with her shoulders squared, hands folded together and her prefect badge resting elegantly to the right of the snake on her chest. She was not happy to be back, nor was she sad or angry. She was indifferent. It was odd since she often felt very excited to be back. Her experience at Hogwarts had always been quite dull since she often kept to herself, despite the constant attention due to her being on the Slytherin quidditch team. However, she found ways to make her time in the castle worth it.

Persephone's eyes scanned the grand hall curiously, observing each table. She could not focus on any of the students, for her eyes were carried towards the ghosts continuously. The school had a few spirits that she knew of, but Persephone had only met the four most frequent ghosts. The house ghosts. The house ghosts each had particular routines, and the only spirit that usually ever shows up to the meals is Nearly Headless Nick, the Gryffindor ghost. Persephone didn't like that ghost very much, and she always heard him complaining about not being headless enough. Ridiculous. Compared to some of the more hidden ghosts, Headless Nick was very boring to her. Persephone's eyes were focused on the nearly headless ghost as he flew over, under and through the Gryffindor's table, and she couldn't help but wonder if he acted like this when he was alive.

The doors to the Great Hall suddenly swung open, tearing Persephone's attention from the ghost to see Professor Dumbledore glide into the hall with a large number of short children in tow. They all seemed anxious to be here and were fidgeting and glancing around as they walked after him. Persephone began to think of leaving the hall at that moment but decided against it, given her duties as a prefect. It was her second year as a prefect, a sixth-year prefect. She took a deep breath and adjusted her position to make herself more comfortable in her spot, and began to listen to the sorting. The witch was as she usually was, calm and monotone, and only clapped for new Slytherins.
