The faint sound of the television could be heard from the living room while Mingyu leant on the balcony. Wonwoo sat on the sofa, watching the morning news. Mingyu on the other hand stood in the balcony mesmerised by nature. Sun shining, birds chirping and the fresh breeze blowing, he could listen to it all day. His brewed coffee's warmth travelled down his throat, feeling the substance warm him up in contrast of the rainy season. All was peaceful until something interrupted the moment. The sound of glass shattering.
"Yesterday evening, a man on his late 20s died in a car accident. None of his family showed up at the scene for an interview so the deceased man's identity remains unidentified." Then the photo of the man in the car flashed in the screen.
The younger's mug slipped off his grasp when he heard the news anchor's voice talk about an incident from yesterday evening.
Out of curiosity, Wonwoo went closer to the television to see the monochromatic photo of the man on the screen clearly. The corpse's features weren't that clear through the screen, though he noticed that it has the features of somebody really familiar to him. Then it hit him,
'Isn't that man,
Mingyu?'
Wonwoo's expression turned to confusion observing the image while Mingyu averted his eyes to the television. Without any second thoughts, the taller grabbed his coat then began sprinting out of the house, not realising that a confused Wonwoo followed him out.
They passed by trees, drying puddles until finally they reached the cliff, the cliff where Mingyu fell. There, they saw a bunch of people with cameras surrounding the place where the incident occurred. He saw the damaged car lifted up back on the cliff, and there he saw the corpse of Kim Mingyu, his lover. Wonwoo walked towards the corpse but immediately got stopped by the people near him. "Sir! You're not allowed to touch the corpse," They said but Wonwoo is stubborn. Once he grew tired of wiggling out of their hold, he eventually gave up and cried.
His teary eyes glanced at the lifeless body in the car, he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
A feeling of confusion fills him, but he then snapped back to reality when a question popped up in his head.
'If that is Mingyu then who's this?' He thought, turning his head to the man beside him. He had no time to grieve his death because he was confused, he was confused if Kim Mingyu was really dead or not. Heck, he didn't even know who was the real Kim Mingyu.
Mingyu did not hesitate to walk towards his own corpse, gently caressing his lifeless face; temperature as cold as ice. The tip of his fingers grazed against the corpse's hardened flesh, eyes widening while he unconciously had his tears trickle down his cheeks.
'Why is no one stopping him to go near the corpse?' Wonwoo thought.
Every person in the crowd totally looked unbothered at a man that exactly looks like the corpse crying, while caressing his cheeks.
'Can't they see him?'
He started becoming very confused to the point that he didn't even know what he was feeling anymore.
'What is happening?'
Time passed and the crowd surrounding the scene finally dispersed leaving the two and the damaged car behind.
"Kim Mingyu, what does this mean?"
"If you're Kim Mingyu then who is that corpse?"
"Are you a ghost?"
"Are you the Mingyu I love?"
Wonwoo flooded him with questions that he was almost unable to answer. At first he hesitated to tell the older the truth but he mustered up the courage to finally answer.
He looked down thinking that his secret is finally revealed.
"Who are you?"
"Wonwoo, I am Kim Mingyu."
