As the sword passed by me I felt the wind gush against my skin, making my heart jolt. I used my powers and their swords ascended into the air where I split the metal into fragments and then cast it out the window, shattering the glass. I braced myself and ran forward, grabbing Elliana by the waist and throwing her out into the hallway. She yelled as I dropped her body to the floor and scrambled for safety. Punch after punch was thrown leaving Max bloody and bruised. I jumped up behind one of them and grappled him by the neck and as he wriggled about Max hooked him around the Jaw, leaving the man unconscious. The other man elbowed me in the side and I toppled over into the bedframe, cracking my back as I fell. As I got angry I felt a surge of power flow to my fingertips and I used it to throw The man against the wall with such a force  that it tore open and the man flew through the wall into the next room. The air was filled with dust and I couldn't see Elliana nor could I see the figure running forward at Max. Abraxas closed his hand around his neck and pulled Max up against the wall like a ragdoll. As the smoke settled down another figure emerged from the hole in the wall, holding something in their hand.

Miss Hawkins smacked Abraxas around the back of the head with a frying pan, and he toppled to the floor instantly. We stared at each other in shock, then finally erupted in laughter. But as Abraxas began to stir Miss Hawkins urged us out, "Go! Now!" She yelled, pointing down the stairs. I nodded as a thank you to her before making my way out. I found Elliana cradling herself by the doorway and picked her up into my arms and she nestled her head into my neck. Max followed closely behind, stomping down the stairs. As Miss Hawkins approached the staircase she suddenly stopped and stared. We looked at her nervously, "Miss Hawkins?" I asked. Her eyes rolled up and her jaw dangled down. Her arms flopped by her sides and she began to buckle. A dark shadow much larger than her loomed over her taunt little body and then she rolled down the stairs into a pile of twisted limbs. Abraxas glared viciously, holding his hands where Miss Hawkins once stood.

Max burst the door open and threw himself outside, carrying Elliana with him. He held her tight caring less about whether his grip was painful or not. Before Abraxas could get too close I pounced forward and slammed the door shut - a futile move. The door was blasted open and splinters of wood flew over my head onto the pavement. Elliana screamed as Max tossed her over the gate, then picked her up and dragged her along the pavement till she could scramble to her feet. Max skidded past the metal railing till he stopped at the sight of a yellow car. I hung behind, keeping a close eye on Abraxas who had somehow vanished.

"Get down!" Max yelled, pushing Elliana close to the floor. He used his elbow to smash the car window and reached inside to open the door. The glass shards sprayed out of the car, narrowly missing Elliana's head. Jumping into the car as well I cradled Elliana who had been so traumatized that she hid herself beneath the chairs, flinching every time the wheels screeched along the road like knives on a plate.

"Where are we going?!" I shouted, trying to keep my voice above the engines constant groan. "School!" Max shouted back, twisting the wheel as we swerved around a corner. I recognized the trees and houses as we drove by, I recognized the path that lead to my home and the bus stop on the end of the road. As we pushed on from the cluster of homes we emerged out into Greenland, and past the hills that lapped over each other in the mornings which I was driven to school.

"How is she?" Max murmured, aware of how much he had frightened her. I turned my head to look back at Elliana, she still hung her head under a mop of hair. "She's...okay," I said. Max lowered his eyes, hearing the doubt in my voice. Silence cloaked us all as we sped down the road and I gently tucked my hand behind the chair so I could rest it on Elliana's shoulder. She shrugged it off and then wiped a tear that ran down her face. "He saved you," I said, hoping she would listen to reason. Elliana sighed and stared up at the window, glancing at my face in the glass. She smiled wearily before laying her head between her knees.

The car slowed down and we pulled into a parking space, unaware of what was to come.
