"How is she?" Max asked delicately, placing a gentle hand on the barrier that separated them all from the girl. "Same as always," Hope replied, before a deadly silence swept over the room. Hope paced back and fourth, the ends of her white dress trailing on the perfectly white floor. "Where is this place?" Max asked, taking a moment to draw his attention away from the girl. "We stand between the veil, it's a safe place we should be hidden here." Hope answered.
Once more, the silence engulfed each and every one of them. All except the girl.
She cradled herself behind a sheet of brown hair, her eyes sunken and drawn to the floor. Max and Hope watched on, like looking at an animal in a zoo. And then she started to murmur randomly, as if she were talking to something that was not there. But she was afraid...
she was afraid of the things that dwelled inside her mind, afraid of the things that kept her locked away. She screamed for help, but no one could hear her, only the faint murmurs which rolled from her tongue, as a thousand thoughts filled her head with noise. Her shoulders swayed forward, like she was about to fall. But then she would stay there, hanging slightly and so close to falling. Max pressed up against the glass, "How is she alive?" He asked. Hope sat down next to him, "She's still In there somewhere, but she's lost...no normal person would be able to survive with that many pyewackets inside their head." Hope said, running her hand over Max's shoulder, "Robyn is no normal person," His words became stifled as Max held back the tears. Flicking away Hope's hand dismissively he said, "What's happening inside her head?"
Hope stared at the floor but Max could not take his eyes away from the girl. The sheet of brown hair brushed away from Robyn's face, exposing the dark bags and deep cuts which ran along her cheek. Her lips trembled and her jaw fell upon, a small crease stretched across her face as a smile emerged. "Robyn?" Hope asked, relieved as this was the first time Robyn had smiled in months. Max waved frantically but Robyn's eyes stared straight through him. "Jayden?" She croaked, crawling forward and her hands and knees. "Jayden is that you?" She asked again. Her voice was sharp and brittle, sending shivers down Max's spine. Hope looked in awe, and then grabbed Max's hand, seeing the tears well up in the corner of his eyes. "Max...we need to call your sister."
