It was an ordinary day for Historia. The palace was flooded with the usual empty silence. She would wonder from room to room, not sure what to do with her spare time. Occasionally, she would play chess with one of her guards since Pixis had taught her how to and she had mastered it in the past four years. On other days, she'd simply stare out the window and wonder how Paradis would respond to Marley.

The reason she had joined the Survey Corps had been to make herself useful and make her life count but she didn't know if she would have joined if she knew it would end up this way. You would think Historia would have a lot to do as Queen but she was actually rarely asked to make decisions and she was mainly just used in formal ceremonies.

She knew she was living a dream for some people; she had a huge palace within Wall Sina and didn't have to work to earn money. However, Historia couldn't help but feel empty inside.

On this particular day, however, Historia noticed a lot of commotion outside, as an enormous amount of soldiers escorted a prisoner into the dungeons below her palace. This alarmed her, as some of them seemed to have the wings of freedom on their backs. What were the Survey Corps doing here? Had they come here just to escort a prisoner?

Most of the Survey Corps worked outside Wall Maria now, so if they were bringing someone, it must have either been a member of the Survey Corps or someone who had arrived from Marley.

There were also a huge amount of Military police and Survey Corps, suggesting that they were all really concerned about the dangerousness of the prisoner.
Had one of the best members of the Survey Corps turned against them? Or perhaps Reiner or another titan shifter had been captured? Had Eren or Armin gone rogue?

"Or maybe it's her", thought Historia before she shook her head and dismissed the thought.

By this time, curiosity had filled Historia's lungs so she couldn't help but go and investigate who the mysterious prisoner was.
By the time she had made her way downstairs, the prisoner had already been taken into the dungeon and two military police stood outside, guarding.

Historia attempted to go into the dungeon but they blocked her path by crossing their rifles across the door.
"I'm sorry, we can't let you go in there, my queen", one of the soldiers said, his face sweating with trepidation.
"Why? Who's in there?", Historia asked in annoyance.
"I-I'm sorry, your highness, I'm under strict orders not to tell anyone", the guard gulped.
"Strict orders from who? I am the Queen!", She demanded.
"From me", a voice said from behind her.

"General Zackly", she gasped turning around, surprised; she hadn't noticed him walk up to her. "Why am I not allowed to enter my own dungeon in my own kingdom?", she asked, trying hard not to sound bitter.
"I'm sorry but this is all for the good of Paradis. We will let you know about the issue eventually but we first need to have a discussion with Commander Hange", he replied, his voice sounding confident with authority.
"But both you and Commander Hange are working for me! You're in no place to keep important information from your Queen!", Historia protested.
The general sighed.

"I'm sorry, my Queen, but we do not work for you; we work for Paradis and you should also work for Paradis since that is your duty. If your allegiance isn't really to the people then we may have to have you removed", he replied, his voice unwavering and his eye contact remaining solid.

Historia's cheeks flushed pink and her mouth opened to say something but her voice had disappeared.
"Escort her highness back upstairs. I'll send some more troops to make sure she doesn't leave. Don't let her go outside either.", the General instructed one of the guards.
"Yes sir!", He replied, before poking his rife onto Historia's back.
Historia helplessly walked back upstairs. She couldn't believe that she had pretty much been put under house arrest for no reason at all.

As soon as she got back, she threw herself onto an armchair and went back to staring out the window. The huge crowd of soldiers had somewhat cleared now but she could see a group of Survey Corps standing outside the palace.

Wait, was that Eren? Yes, it definitely was, and he appeared to be having an argument with Captain Levi. She could also spot Mikasa, Armin, Connie, Sasha and Jean standing around them. Eren's face seemed full of anger but the Captain was as emotionless as ever. Historia wanted to run outside and ask them what was going on and who the prisoner was but then she remembered that she wasn't allowed to leave.

Why were they all here anyway? Did Eren and Levi's argument have something to do with the prisoner?
All of this just made her more frustrated about the fact that she had no control over the situation. She had already known inside that she was merely a symbol but General Zackly's words had still stung.
Maybe she really was just completely useless now.
